One thing about Hawaii, each island is different, and within each island there are so many different microclimates, especially on the Big Island (8 of the 13 possible). As you drive the change is remarkable, even in a short period of time. You see it even better if you take an airplane ride around the entire island. In Kauai, it is not as dramatic, but it's an amazing island, especially if you want to unwind and enjoy tropical beauty. Nevertheless the hiking opportunities are awesome throughout!
Awesome hotel in Princeville: https://www.stregisprinceville.com/ If you're up to an awesome driving experience, rent yourself a BMW (or equivalent) and drive the road to Hana. Plan a full day for it, even stay overnight in Hana, and enjoy the drive back the same way, but from a different viewing perspective! Just don't go full circle unless you have a jeep. http://roadtohana.com/

Go on a Caribbean cruise. Snorkel, jet ski in the ocean, visit different locations/beaches, nature hikes, free meals all day, have a nice lobster dinner, dance, gamble, karaoke, get your drink on.

If you don't mind flying and have the funds to do so, Check out Bora Bora! Everyone needs to go there at least 1 time in their life.

Morocco resort. Full of culture, safe, and something different than being holed up in a resort the whole time. I like being able to get out and explore.
I'm sure this has already been mentioned but for the love of all that his holy stay at a kid free place. |

We flew down to San Juan, Puerto Rico and toured the island for 2 days before jumping on a cruise ship for 5 nights in the Caribbean. Rent a car in San Juan and go drive up the mountain roads, have some local food in the hills, hike the rain forest with a guide and check out the glowing lakes at night. That was a great time and I think we managed to stay under $3,500 or so.
For year #2, we packed a lot in to just a few days. We flew to Vegas for a night and then drove around the Grand Canyon. Went off-roading with a private Jeep tour in Utah, took a boat tour down the Colorado River at Glen Dam, checked out local Antelope canyons and then walked a mile to Horseshoe Bend. Then we raced south to catch sunset in the Grand Canyon national park, and stayed at a haunted house (no, I didn't tell her) in Williams, AZ right on history Rt 66. Then we followed 66 west with a detour through Oatman, a mountain town over-run by donkeys where we got some food and ice cream. The mountain drive was a blast in our rental Focus! We went to Aruba and loved it. We stayed at the Manchebo Beach Resort on the low rise side. Tons of stuff to do around the island, super friendly people, and great food.
The High Rise side is full of kids and family so if you want a romantic getaway don't stay there IMO. |

My wife and I went to Hawaii for our honeymoon in December (Maui and Oahu). We had a great time, but it was far more expensive than I thought it would be.

Kauai. We actually got married there (no guests, just us) and absolutely loved it. Hanalei Bay is SO CHILL. We got married behind the St.Regis and our photos are amazing. Can't suggest it enough. After a week on Kauai we made our way to the Four Seasons on Mauai. My wife actually cried on the ride to the hotel. Kauai is super lush and relaxing while Maui has more strip malls (not a lot, just more). Totally different vibe.
Another nice perk about Hawaii is that you can just pop out your cellphone and make a local call to NYC. It's great! On a tighter budget I would check out Turks & Caicos. Grace Bay is about as gorgeous as Caribbean beaches get.

For that budget, Caribbean should offer better overall package.
But if you are a chase reward points, you can always used your points on Hawaiian airline or Hyatt resorts. Hyatt franchise in Hawaii offers the best point for classification deal, i.e. Grand Hyatt in Kauai or Andaz in Maui. If no points are being used, typical 7-8 night trip will cost you around $4k for flight and hotel. In Caribbean, my favorites are Cayman island (Westin on 7 mile beach is the bomb for the money), Aruba, Turks and Caicos. They offer very quite get away with quality snorkel exp. All inclusive in Aruba or T&C should cost you around $4k. |

June is going to be HOT wherever you go. Some like hot, sweaty, slippery YOGA, some don't appreciate it as much.
Poipu on Kauai is a great place, it's only about 30 minutes drive to Polihali (don't let the rental company know you drove out there) and about 45 minutes up into the Na Pali mountains for a dramatic change in scenery. I always rented a condo in Poipu, but food in the grocery stores can be EXPENSIVE. I think a head of lettuce was something like $1.89/LB. I've never eaten the core of a lettuce before, but for $5+ I wasn't letting anything go to waste! |

June is a great month in the Caribbean. Max is 90ish but it doesn't feel it. Personally, I don't want the wind to make me chilly or to contemplate between a sleeved or sleeveless black top. July starts heating things up really quick.

I have now searched extensively from all the recommendations, thanks guys.
We decided against Hawaii because of the flight, have it narrowed down to the Cayman Islands, St. John, and Turks and Caicos. Right now, this is pick numero uno https://www.expedia.com/St-Thomas-An...vvFz45u6ieutIM |

St. Maarten is great, not long flight, great beaches, safe, and plenty of places to walk around. Pelican Beach Resort is great place to stay and orient beach is by far the best beach on the island
