I feel your pain. It's always something. I backed my tune off for a bit just to give things a break. I just want a little reliability for a second as am tired of being under a car.

That's the tough part. you've invested a lot into repairs at this point. Could be solid for another 60k miles, could be a total lemon. Good advice in this thread though. Keep an eye on HPFP, turbos, get a walnut blast done asap. From personal experience: fuel evap issues, leaky shocks, and random sensors going berserk. Good luck brother.

64k on the OEM coils doesn't seem right if your strictly a DD. Most people can get at least 100k on OEM coils. Also, why pay $500.00 for a plastic charge pipe when you can get an aluminum one for $225.00 and install it yourself. I can see the water-pump going at 64k, but most folks get at least 75k. It is a little odd that the valve cover gasket only lasted 64k. Most of them will go over 80k for a daily driver (DD). I would probably say your next repair will be the oil filter housing gasket for sure. It's an easy DIY. The gasket only costs $25.00 or so. |

Sorry to hear about the bad luck. It sucks when multiple systems fail within such a short time frame. Stick with it, there are only a few common major issues that go wrong, many of which you've already addressed.
Unless you replaced your broken charge pipe with another OEM pipe, you probably won't have to replace it again. If you replaced it with OEM, well, just hope it won't break again for a while since it's new (the OEM charge pipe sucks). Since you replaced your water pump, it should last another 60,000 miles or so. Do yourself a favor and learn to change your plugs and coils. It takes less than an hour, only requires one special $20 tool (spark plug socket), and saves you loads of cash ($300-$400) every 10,000 miles or so. The vcg is a big deal but they all leak in every single production BMW (even M cars, which have TWO VCG's, now that sucks lol). Once you get it fixed it should last a while. Also a leaking vcg probably won't leave you stranded (I waited almost a year to fix my vcg) Your serpentine belt would likely need replacing next. Not a big ticket item. |

2. I have a VRSF aluminum chargepipe and Tial BOV that was $467 and all repairs thus far have been done by me 3. Yeah didn't seem that unusual to me. 4. I thought so as well, I've heard right around 85-90k miles on it. 5. Yeah doesn't seem too difficult to do myself. |

People posting inflated prices for parts in this thread. Who pays $900 for a starter?
Who complains about the price of a repair when they replace the charge pipe with the top of the line, all bells and whistles VSRF Charge Pipe and BOV. People are silly. |

My 2008 328i w. 6MT and sports package was great until 90K miles. From 90K to 125K, I had to fix the following:
- control arm bushings (twice because 1st shop used aftermarket parts) - front brakes twice (one time not necessary - real problem control arm bushings), rears once - water pump & thermostat (preventative) - harmonic balancer - valve cover (plastic - cracked) - oil filter housing gasket - driveshaft - power steering hoses I sold it because I couldn't afford the repairs. When I asked the dealer what it would cost to replace the clutch, t/o bearing, pressure plate and dual mass flywheel, they told me $5K! I realize I can do better at an independent but $3K is still too much for me. The car ran like new when I sold it, maybe better with Michelin PSS tires. But it boiled down to a financial decision. The hard part is that you never know what's next. I was told that the oil pan gasket often needs to be replaced. But who knows. As another poster said, you might go the next 50K miles with no problems. If I hadn't destroyed my back years before, i could have maintained the car myself and I would have kept it.
