No. The stock muffler is a single-inlet anyways. The tip-side being dual/single doesn't affect anything.

Ah that makes sense. Thanks! This'll definitely be my next muffler when I get around to that.

So I typed the magnaflow part number into google and this thing goes for less than 80 bucks. That plus the cost of res delete and install makes this a pretty affordable exhaust with great sound. Much cheaper than PE for sure.

Yup! It's very cost-effective and sounds amazing.

here are some videos I brought up from a fellow forum member comparing secondary cats VS deleting them with some sort of free flowing exhaust. while I feel like it doesnt make a HUGE difference with the exhaust note, the actual engine sound coming from the front of the car is noticeably louder without being annoying. there is absolutely ZERO drone (as long as you keep your resonator) but throttle response improves even more compared to replacing just your muffler. hearing the engine with the exhaust when you step on it, paired with the noticeably stronger top end pull and sharp throttle response really makes the $140 to delete them worth it by a long shot. the gains from deleting the secondaries alone are a bit more noticeable then just a magnaflow muffler and all together it makes for a wonderfully free flowing OEM (ish) catback that needs no further improvement.

I'm sure you are more then happy with the current exhaust sound as it is, but deleting the secondaries will really complete the aural experience all together (good enough for me without installing catless headers, for now) while also bringing some meaningful gains + a sharper throttle response that is noticeable.

with this setup, all together engine - exhaust sound is pretty evenly matched with just a touch more exhaust sound coming out the back.

Do all Magnaflow mufflers pretty much sound the same or do the different series/sizes vary?

It's so hard to tell in the different videos people post. I'm debating between the XL series vs. straight-through.

Different designs and constructions will sound different. Straight through ones do very little for sound absorption and are louder.

Your setup sounds great, do you have any cold start clips?

I don't at this moment. Cold start isn't loud at all, just deep bass tones for a bit. I don't even think it would be captured on camera very well as it's all low frequency tones. It's absolutely nothing like the BMW PE or muffler delete cold starts and won't bother anyone in the morning hours.

I wouldn't go smaller than a 3" inlet if you take on this project.

So are you saying it's quieter than the PE?

I'm actually very curious how you would compare the sound in general to the PE because PE is my favorite sound for this car from what I've heard in videos...
