For way less than that even a base MHD tune would give you more power and that may help out?

I'm tempted to do the MHD stage 1, but I don't think it helps with transmission at all, just engine power.

MHD does help with gear shifts and smoothness

These engines have a shitload of torque from very low RPM. I personally love how you can give it 75% throttle in D and it just hauls along without revving its ass off. I actually have my custom TCU flash with shift points half way between stock and Alpina. If you have it too upshift happy, it ends up always hunting between gears.

I have a June 2006 & they didn't have any problems doing mine.
The only thing they can't do is the launch control

The following are the labels on my transmission. Is it the same as yours?

Coupes according to realoem I have a GA6HP192Z/XN. I don't have access to a lift & I'm not crawling around under the car to read gearbox stickers

Fair enough. Fully understand. As we have different transmissions, the TCUs could be different as well.

I thought all Australia 335i without DCT are using the same gearbox?
what Realoem says about your engine model Coupes33?
Does it match to the stamp on the transmission?

All 335i BMWs in Australia have the 6HP21 whereas the US and apparently, the UK 335is have the 6HP19. I believe the 21 can handle more torque than the 19.

It's interesting that realoem shows my car is having 6HP19?
That's why I wonder what comes up when you check your car on realoem.

6HP21 aka the 6HP19TU (Technical Update) Z is for BMW designation.

6HP19 has a torque capacity of 295ft.lbs.
6HP21 has a torque capacity of 332ft.lbs.

N55 has a torque output of 300ft. lbs.
N54 has a torque output of 295ft.lbs.

N54/55 matched to the 6HP21 (6HP19TU). RealOEM should indicate 6HP19TUZ but drops the 'TU'.

Realoem states the same for mine i.e. the transmission is a ZF 6HP19 but it obviously isn't. My car is a Sept 2006 build so if it was fitted with a 6HP21, I would imagine all other 335i imported into Australia would be the same. Maybe we need a few Australian forum members to have a look and verify whether this is the case. I have attached the ZF data sheets for the two transmissions.

Just found that realoem says:
N54 GA6HP19Z
N55 GA6HP19Z - W1Q

Their parts numbers are also not the same.
I am confused.
Really need to check the stamp when I ever have a chance working underneath the car.

It seems like

335i pre LCI
Only has one choice of gearbox
6HP19Z

335i LCI
Has 2 choices of gearbox
6HP19Z - W1Q
6HP19Z (this has the same parts number on the pre LCI 335i)

XN, ZZJ, WNB, W9H & W1Q were transmission codes used for the 6HP21 aka the 6HP19TU (Technical Update) from 2006-2011.

You can confirm this from the picture you provided. XN denotes from February 2006 - March 2007.

In Australian market, the E90 335i only came with 6-speed auto, no DCT or manual gearbox options.

I think the E92/93 came with DCT, but no manual option.

I've done the tranmission adaptation reset many times, almost on a monthly basis. Not sure if it really, really does anything, or if it's more a placebo effect

I might do the MHD stage 1 flash before doing any transmission updates, and see how that goes.

Basically I reckon I miss a real manual gearbox that behaves the same every day, regardless of weather or transmission 'adaptions'!
