There's nothing special about this crankcase breather really but here are some photos: Crankcase Top (Notice hole on the right) Crankcase Bottom Top removed Picture of the top bit Inside is a spring and the rest is sealed rubber which can be pulled out.. it's completely sealed so sucks in air and releases out the top nozzle which can be seen on the first photo Rubber normal RUBBER Stretched Was a bit disappointing but there you go haha. Oh and here is a picture of the crankcase breather removed |

Cheers mate, appreciate it. However, not really much to it! I can't see how it would get clogged...anyway, I'll get it changed anyway so it's done. If it does make a difference, bonus!

No vortex in there fella its just an empty box.
I actually did fit a vortex cartridge in mine from the 5 series, didnt make anything better or worse. As you can see the diaphragm isnt used in these cars. The vac nipple is not connected. No point that I can see for changing them but the myth persists. |

Okay, so car has had it's service on Friday and also had the breather changed. No real immediate difference to be honest...
They checked for leaks etc and there was nothing on the under-trays and couldn't find anything at all wrong! Well, at least its done and I have peace of mind that everything has been checked over by someone I trust and all is well atm. On a side note, I got it put on the dyno and it read out a healthy 285bhp and 495lbs/ft |

Just to update, one of the issues of the oil usage has been resolved! Since I had the service/oil breather changed the car hasn't used a drop of oil whereas it was using about 1 litre every 1000 miles.
