I have a bad drive axle which might have an influence on the noise but as I said noise can be heard at 2000 rpm and during deccelerations.

This might help

I'd also replace the flex disc & upgrade it to the 335is flex disc while your in there.

Mweisdorfer, I think your statement above might be backwards. I have checked with a knowledgeable friend and been advised the front diff bushings for M3 will fit into normal E90/E91/E92 subframes. It is the rear diff bushing for an M3 that will not work. I specifically have a 335D and i put in Powerflex purple diff bushings with (2) in front and (1) in rear. I have a strange noise that happens between 40-60 mph that sort of sounds like a roar. Yet another friend has done same mods as I and reports similar noise. We both run a Wavetrac LSD in our 2.81:1 diesel specific carriers. He even had his non modified diff swapped back in to see if that was source of noise and it wasn't. He is proceeding to rubber bushes on the diff now.

We are both possibly switching to M3 type in front diff bushings p/n 33-31-2-284-019 and the normal 335D rear bushing p/n 33-17-6-770-866.

On that last rear diff bushing, if anyone knows of another rubber aftermarket that is more like M3 in stiffness but fits the normal E90 subframe, PLEASE chime in.
Thanks.
EDIT: I'm adding a picture in of the bushings removed from my car last summer. The top 3 are the diff bushings. Unfortunately, i chunked all 7 of these bushings in the trash.

You are right. They make the two front Differential bushings m3. The one nearest the rear bumper is not an M3, and you can not get an m3 rear bushing for the 335i.

My bad..

I also noticed a whine above 70km/h after installing Whiteline subframe bushings.

It may be just drivetrain harmonics and this is also the reason the diesel models have tuning weights attached to the exhaust, the rear diff bush bolt and on the F10 they also appear on the subframe. When you look closely at the sloppy stock bushes you realise why they isolate so much noise.
