I took the car around the block so the oil gage would take effect, it said it has 1 pt left. LOL! Would it hurt to add more oil to the engine?

man sorry to hear the misfortune.. Alot of techs think of an oil change as really nothing and speed through it and this kind of shit is what happens. He prolly put the gasket in the wrong thread of the cap or didnt torque the cap tight enough. Id fight this one for sure because oil changes arent cheap for me $109.

Ok so, how do I clean exxon valdez oil spill in the engine bay? Is that something the dealership pick up the tab on? Also, I can hardly open the oil filter cover, since its so slippery.

That would piss me off soo much. Call BMW assist and have them pick it up with a flatbed. Tell then what dealer to take it to and explain what happened. BMW should be made aware of this. It is possible that the dealer did not have an approved tech do the oil change.

Stay focussed and cool when letting the service boss know what happened. You want them to fix your problem at their expense, so don't let them become defensive. Just inform them of the problems and email the photos.

Put the service boss in your position. "I'm sure you will agree with me that...."

Sorry to read about this silly but costly and most inconvenient of mistakes but once the service department fixes everything, you should be OK.

Maybe once they have the car and they are fixing the problem, ask them to hoist it up so you can check that they cleaned the oil of all the nooks and crannies for yourself. Still, you may find a bit missed so there may be a little burnt oil smell shortly after you drive it.

Put a large cloth under the car after the frepair is correctly carried out to protect the floor and check for leaks.

All the best sirius.

Let us know how everything goes.

NatureBoy... you're throwing money down the drain dude. I can understand some people wanting to change oil more often than the car's schedule, but I think you've gone OCD about it.

WOW... That's a lot of oil in NB's garage. I wonder how much car wash he has?

I decided to do the same...every 5,000 miles or so. I did the first oil change at 5500 miles and I just did the second oil change yesterday at 9600 miles. I guess we are a little OCD on this but let me tell you...I saw a picture of the oil filter and and dip stick on an E46 from another post...the guy had not chaged his oil in who knows how long. Those pictures left a lasting impression!
