It's a product called Hammerite (quite popular in the UK) and the finish is smooth black. Came up really well - and meant to be really hard wearing.

They look great in the flesh. The hyper silver against the sapphire black is such a striking contrast. In the one day I've had them on, I have seen two dudes pointing at them as they walk past, showing them to their incredibly uninterested girlfriends.

So, I've made what I think will be the list for my last few little mods, which I will do over the next six months. Have just bought a house so funds are a bit tighter than they used to be! I'm just looking for a reliable 380 - 400 FWHP and a subtle, good looking sedan that handles well:

Current:

Bilstein B12 Kit
TRW M3 front arms
MHD Stage 1 93
New 335is engine mounts
Wheels and tyres
Black grilles
Blackline tails

Maintenance-wise I have had the intake valves cleaned, new coils and plugs, water pump replaced, and every fluid replaced a few thousand km ago (with oil & filter replaced every 5,000km). Both turbos were replaced at 100,000km (currently on 160,000) and a recent compression test showed around 175psi across all 6, +/- a few psi.

Future Plans:

M3 front (and maybe rear) sway bar
Rear sub frame bushes if I do the rear bar
OEM rotors and maybe Ferodo DS2500 pads
VRSF 7" Intercooler
VRSF charge pipe
Turbosmart Kompact plumb-back BOV kit

I'd hope that would net around 400 hp at the crank. Not looking to go with catless downpipes as I like how quiet it is, and I'm happy to lose out on 10 or 15 hp on that basis. The clutch seems to be holding out fine as I don't rag it much - only ever in-gear. Will keep the post going as I go along.

I'm kind of OK with it to be honest. There has to be some element of suspension travel to make the car ride and handle properly - especially as our roads aren't exactly European in quality.

I'm tossing up what tyres to use, for price its hard to go past the KU39's for around the 700 mark. I just hope they don't look to stretched.

Your PS4's look great but there another 700 on top and I normally give them hell haha

I did the wire brush by hand method once and its way too painful and you dont get a particularly good outcome.

Use these bits with any drill and its so easy.

To be honest any decent performance tyre from Kumho, Hankook, Falken etc is fine for 90% of the time. I don't track or push my car too hard - but I had always wanted a new set of Michelin, and with the deal from Camskill I couldn't resist. the GBP is plummeting at the moment, so you could pick a set up pretty damn cheap if you're prepared to wait a week for the shipping and find a shop to fit them.

Including shipping, two each of these comes in at AUD 1,400 once you deduct VAT. Admittedly you have to pay GST on arrival, and probably $100 to have a shop fit them, but since they're meant to be the best tyre you can buy right now, that's not bad.

I think for you guys in Australia, tyres are much cheaper than they are here, so it might not be as much of a bargain. But since a 265/30ZR19 PSS is almost $800 a tyre here, I couldn't pass up on that UK pricing.

They aren't available in NZ yet that's for sure. Lord only knows what the price will be when they are! Air freight for the four tyres was £280 less 20% VAT. It would probably be a bit less to ship from the UK to Australia too. Well worth considering.

I believe all variants cost the same. They were £699 for the wheels, plus about £300 for shipping, less 20% for the VAT, so all up it was about £830 / $1,400 plus GST. It was a favourable exchange rate when I bought kind. Email Mark at BM Autosport or Chris at CM Wheels for a price.

I was intending on using the Kumho KU39's, but after reviewing them against my current Goodyear Assy 2's it would seem like a big step backwards.

I looked at the Assy 3's but they don't seem to make a 265-30-19.

May aswell go all out and get one of the best around
