T stat would definitely help for sure too and just to reiterate, getting oil and water temps down on this car helps a lot.

Also, I don't know if you have downpipes but you could consider ceramic coating or wrapping them, that would reduce temps in the engine bay too.
Stock DP. I am like the last person running Cobb! All good ideas!

You have it backwards.

Such would be true if you were cooling the CP with air like the IC, however you are heating the CP up with engine heat, heating the charge air. Keep in mind this is very minuscule.

Swap it in/out depending on the season, or get a different tstat, as already mentioned.

Move to Alaska.

I like how this thread went from "hot air", to burning oil, to warning signs of bad turbo, to the eventual "what does MHD offer over Cobb..??" It's like an N54 newb survival guide.

I was told if I had nothing nice to say, not to say it. Hence why I facepalmed reading the thread. I guess I shouldn't have said that either, not too nice . UGH.

But at the end of the day I got my answer. 160F AIT heat soaked is not out of the ordinary.

It's all relative...without back-to-back readings under the same *exact* condition, etc. it's just conjecture.

I feel like my engine temp are higher 240-250F after I put in the ER CP and FMIC. Should I go back to the stock CP?

I don't remember the stock setup getting this hot. Maybe someone running stock CP/FMIC can chime in.
Aluminum will carry the hat from the ic, even tho you may run a larger ic, the fan doesn't change and blocks the cooling path, no much but if it is bigger, there is truth. The factory pipe is plastic for a reason, so the air has time to cool off. You pretty much answered your own question.

I'm not sure what a "normal" everyday IAT would be in your case but that seems pretty high with a aftermarket, upgraded IC. I run a M3 cowl, MHD set on sport cooling, BMS oil T-stat, VRSF 7" HD IC, and a ER CP. Oil temp stays planted on 200-210F. I live in hot ass Cent FL, heat indexes usually over 100*F every day and I never see IAT's that high. I don't see temps that high even doing three back to back 30-130 mph logs or at 1/2 mile events sitting in the staging lanes waiting to run and then running WOT for a 1/2 mile.

Not normal either, asuuming its boston and all this w er ic? Not that it matters when car is idling. How does it do when not heat soaked?

Only reason it's "normal" is in the fact that it's possible. You have every cooling mod under the sun, of course your car won't get to this extreme

I do have concerns that the IAT numbers are a little inflated.

If driving in Boston is anything like NYC traffic, it's pretty hard on a vehicle. Bumper to bumper traffic, red lights, constant accelerating and decelerating, long idle times plus stagnant air between buildings...

OP:

I'm curious what your IAT show in the morning on a cold car that hasn't been run yet. Before you start the car tomorrow, compare your IAT to ambient.

Always 20-25 or it somewhat closer to ambient during the first drive before the car is heat soaked? It should be near ambient at the start of driving.

Someone should design a lightweight cowl that does this!
I switched to M3 cowl; looks great. More room and likely more airflow. My temps are around 240 in 90* heat with traffic.

On cold start I measured 7 degrees above ambient.
May take it to my mechanic to check all the connections and for oil in the FMIC.

What's your IAT during WOT?

Just get an after mkt like a VRSF or a Mishimoto and your car will not IAT's over 130 ever. VRSF temps tend to be under 120

OP has a ER FMIC which is better than both of what you listed. It's normal to see very high IATs when in traffic or idling even with large FMICs like OP is seeing.

I'd suggest to read the thread.
