if 29.2 doesn't hinder most of the piggybacks, then what's the point of it, from bmw's perspective? If they went out of their way to implement the tuner protection v81, and they issued a sib about tuners, and came out with the 29.2, seems like it must do SOMETHING. if it doesn't hinder torque, then what does it do?

It seems to me we are mixing up issues. ECU v81 has clearly onboard functionality to detect and limit tuning activities.

ProgMan 29.2 with ECU v80 does not seem to impact current tuning products. Who / what is the source about ProgMan 29.2 with ECU v80 will be a problem ? I can't find related information.

BTW, when ProgMan 29.2 would be capable to detect tuning activities with ECU v80, why had ECU v81 to be released ? Just because of the better encryption ? I doubt this.

A feasible scenario could be that ProgMan 29.2 will support tuning detection and limitation, but only when running on the v81 ECU. Do we have some members / vendors on the board having tuning problems with ProgMan v29.2 and the v80 ECU ?
