Hey Paul, I do remember speaking with you. I agree the weather has definately been less than cooperative, in fact I've been holding the Tahoe in my garage for my client for the past couple of days because of the rain. Hopefully we'll get some nice weather soon so we can get your car looking good.

Deffinately, I just recently picked up a set of 19" bbs lm reps, and I want those to be sparkling too!

Gee I see alot of people posting up offering detailing services without being real paying vendors on this forum. I remember a few months ago when I did this and was contacted by a moderator that deleted my thread for non payment. Hmm. Looks like I'm going to make a new thread and post up pics from my shop again. I'll see how long this lasts ha!
Good luck in NJ, there are alot of members from Jersey on here.

For what it's worth this this forum hasn't generated much of my business, paying to be a vendor would have been a waste for me at least. However I think perhaps the mods closed your thread because you came here solely to advertise? All of the detailers I've seen post on here were forum members long before offering services. This is also mostly a side gig for most people, where as you have a commercial business. Regardless, that's up to them but I heard you do great work for pretty cheap, so I'm sure you have no trouble with business with or without the forum.

You are exactly correct with everything you've said so far. So now I will be posting up as a "forum member" lol. You know whats funny, I had a potential customer from this forum, made an appointment, cancelled, was supposed to reschedule, now I seen him up on here claiming to be this ultra professional detailer trying to do jobs out of his house!
I hate that!
My thread got deleted after just over a month with 1,500+ views. I was getting a ton of attention from the forum and the mods cought on. Oh well, I just miss detailing bimmers more often, hence the reason why I started to post again.
Maybe I'll finally become a paid vendor on here, maybe I won't.

Now thats funny, although it doesn't surprise me one bit. There are also plenty of hacks out there. I also think many people don't understand what a true detail consists of, and will go to that guy instead of you to save a buck or to, when he isn't offering the same services, but just a wash a wax in his full detail while you do lets say 2 step polishing. I would really love to open up a shop but I think it would be hard to turn a profit around here, there's too many "professional detailers." I'd have to sacrifice quality to do cars quicker and cheaper, and I'd rather not detail at all than do a half ass job.

I'm not surprised neither. Way too many online DIY sites/forums and the Porter Cable means everyone thinks they're a detailer. Give me a break already. Opening up a shop is a ton of work & a ton of time you have to devote to it if you want to be sucessfull. Word of advice: Never EVER sacrifice quality in order to get jobs done quicker meaning you do more cars. Take your time with your work and let the word on the street spread. Your prices will increase along the way as you build up your client base. Let the car wash burn paint, swirl paint, damage moldings because they don't mask them, and only make $100 on each detail.

That's cool, not trying to take you away from him as a customer.

Your car is still getting fixed? How long has it been in the shop for, it didnt even look that bad in the pictures you took. Did you at least get a nice loaner or rental car to beat on. Just shoot me a PM whenever your ready and I'll hook you up.

Yeah it's those car washes that give detailing a bad name in general, it's a shame to see some of the cars that go through car washes because their owners don't realize the damage that is being done to the paint.
