Not sure about operating roof at speed so have set to 7mph so that I could pull away if necessary. Yes I did disconnect battery better be safe than sorry just adds 15 mins to fit to get at negative terminal.

I would think a group buy would be possible but at least 10 has been quoted. We dont seem to have many e93 owners in this forum.

mmmm - must get round to re-fitting mine again. With my roof probs tho I will defo disable the ability to operate whilst on the move - dont want the dealership claiming I have done damage by operating the roof out of manufacturers guidelines.

It should be going in for it's second set of trim strips this week and I think something needs re-aligning as often when closing the left hand side bangs down hard on the top of the windscreen pillar as the 'peg' type guides don't line up properly.

As I mentioned before I'm looking to buy one for the Alfa as part of a group buy. I could see if I can add you to the list. I can't see why the retailer would have an issue with it being split models.

I think red has been using his roof to crack nuts again

Hope you get it sorted red

I would be interested in a group buy if there were enough people.

Don't mean to thread hijack but with limited E93 members in one place

Anyone had problem with creaky/squeaky doors/windows sounds like it is coming from the bottom of the window, I read around a bit and there was so blame on the materials being used around the door frame but no solid fix

Also does it with the roof down

Doesn't look good that has to be a roof alignment problem, mine occasionally folds the rubber over on closing (rear of front section) nothing like your roof bars though.

That is my thought also.

Apparently the original trim shell strips have had problems with warping (there is a BMW TIS on this issue). The dealer ordered some primered ones in and had them sprayed before fitting.

Within a week or two they started to twist again, one so badly that it has completely sheared and bent the centre small hinge section (that is the bit sticking up on the pic - it is now like this all of the time!).

The dealer has blamed the fact that they were oven baked after spraying to cure the paint? They think the heat has distorted the plastic? He has ordered in two more and had them re-sprayed. This time they have been left to air-dry instead. The twist (no pun ) here is that the dealer rang me on thursday to say the new ones have arrived back from the body shop and one is twisted again already so he wont fit them. They have now ordered another set and is calling me this week to arrange fitting!

I am not holding my breath though

Can they not order pre painted ? can't see how they would warp under normal air dry cure

You would have thought it was something so simple to get right

I will have to place close attention to mine I think.

according to the TIS sheet, they can yes, although that was a US sheet I was looking at and maybe it is deifferent there? It listed different part numbers for each paint colour, as well as a primered part number. It allowed $50 allowance for the dealers to paint em!

I have asked the dealer three times now if he can order pre-coloured ones and he says not!

If these fail again I am going to show him the TIS sheet (I may even leave it on the passenger seat when it goes in to have them fitted anyway ) and ask them to try and order the part numbers given on there.

I also agree about the air-dry cure and that they should not have warped again. I reckon they have baked em again by mistake!! Would not surprise me in the slightest. They seem to love having the car in 3 times to fix every fault it has ever had. Why change habits now!!!

Only just got round to seeing this trail. I'd be very interested in buying this bit of kit. But just how tricky is it to install?

I don't have CA. Does this give me remote closing?

Could I get a decent car electrical place to install it?

Module gives remote open/close, one touch open close from roof switch with a option to have the windows left down or raised. One touch window close from the all window close button. Roof operation at speed, speed can be set from 7mph - 25mph if you dare. It also has a new option of folding the wing mirrors in/out if you have the folding BMW option. I have electrical experience and found the fit straight forward, no more than an hour labour to remove trims and fit, an auto electrical firm should have no problem.

Just had a look at BMW parts CD and no mention of pre painted trims, primed only

are the part numbers for the primered ones the same as the ones listed on the TIS bulletin? - The bulletin actually recommends to the dealer to order and fit pre painted ones if available!

Seems strange to me how BMW would offer a whole range of pre-painted trims to the US but not to the UK?

TIS says build up to Jan 2007, when was your car built mine was Feb and was one of the first in the country your car is a sport version so it must be after Feb build. No signs of any deformation on my roof. Could it be your roof is misaligned. As for part no's on BMW parts CD the number is the same for the middle roof section trim. Right 54 37 7 184 038 Left 54 37 7 184 037. TIS only states a Left part no.Tried a serch for a crimson red with the part no from the TIS, no part found.

I would have tought it is available pre-painted. My door handles were all replaced done and they were pre-painted, as are the mirror caps and bumpers if needed - hence the costs.

Parts Cd shows please supply colour code for mirror caps etc but no mention for roof bars for e93. Could always try ringing a parts dept giving the coloured part no from the TIS and see what they say.

Too late! Dealer rang today to say the second set of roof shell trims have been painted and are 'straight as a die' apparently

Car is being collected on Tuesday for fitting. Also mentioned about the mis-alignment when the roof closes and bangs agaist the windscreen frame. They have promised to sort this also.

Sad thing is I hold out little hope any more! The car seems to be such a chore with it's constant source of faults! Oh well!! new wheels are scheduled to arrive tomorrow so that will cheer me up
