I have the professional nav system/ i drive.
Although most of the time I know where I am going, and so do not need the route guidance, I still switch to the nav display to see the TMC Info, and avoid any big delays. Do you have access to TMC services in the US?. If so, that alone makes it worth having thet nav unit, even if you wil use the route guidance infrequently. |

Get it. I have a PDA with TOMTOM, works fine but nothing beats the integrated. You can never forget to take it, no wires dangling, breakin into your car to steal your nav or any of that BS. My Infiniti has NAV with the Smart Key and smart cruise. Let me tell you, if you can afford the $500 get the comfort acess, it looks like a waste of money but I assure you it will become a must have. Smart cruise @2000+ is a waste of money IMO. I usually use the normal cruise.

I ordered my 330i without nav - but that's only because i plan to keep my car for at least 8 years and didn't want to have an 8 year old system in my car then. I think there will be much better after market systems in the future. That being said, I would get it if I was leasing. It doesn't add much cost and when the lease is up, you just get a new car with a new nav/idrive system.

novase101--If you want to search for specific things through the navigation....let's say Maggiano's in Chicago, you go to naviation, then on the top line scroll past address book to information. Then either click information on destination (where you pick the city) or on location (where you are right now). Then it's pretty much self explanitory from there. I think that you go to dining and entertainment, then resturants, then you can pick Italian, for example, and it will give you a list of all Italian resturants within a 10 mile range or so. Very useful, but like I said, it's too bad that you cannot search by name.
