seems like the TL is a popular choice. what year does the 4th gen start, 06 or 07?

so far i've come up with 4th gen TL, is250 and i don't know why but maybe a new civic SI.

So are you planning on sticking with the BMW emblem or are you moving on/down/away???

If i had to i would probably go with a e46.... they shouldnt be too expensive right now...

here's my problem with that.

1) used car rates are crazy which i've stated like a million times already in this thread
2) e46 with no warranty? no thanks! the car itself might not cost much but fixing any problems that come from it, i might as well keep my car!

the downgrade would only be for a year or 2 so i don't mind dropping the bmw badge for a bit.

WELL i'd buy an STI

but for you, VW GTI is a really nice car. I really like how it drives and it has a DSG if you don't want to drive a manual. It is FWD though, but you don't seem to mind if you're going to consider the civic Si.

Or how about even a regular WRX? those things are mean! I think the TL is a nice car to have, but it'd really suck to go from 328i to TL because the TL is awfully soft compared to the 328i

Also, how about the Mazdaspeed 3? It's a hatchback too!

You said downscale.

IMO...if I had to downscale I'd get a Fit. It's not like I need to go 200mph for my daily commute. 109hp is perfectly fine for a budget commuter car.

Save up the money on gas and on the car...when I could afford another decent car I'd go for that...rather than just getting a car that is sorta what I want but just fits my budget, yah know? *shrug*

never really considered a GTI. i'll look into it.

the TL just seems like a very practical car which is ok to me. i know i might get bored of it so hopefully this switcheroo is fairly short.

picked up a mazda 3 for my sister already. great car to zip around town in but i don't foresee a 2nd one on the driveway.

yeah, you're right. i can see where you're coming from with that. thing is, this will be my everyday and only car. for daily traffic commutes i think its fine but weekend driving, its probably on the weak side. maybe i'll just test drive it and see what happens.

oh yeah I think there's a procede type thing for the GTI that'll up it to about 250 hp at the crank! I read it on this board somewhere. good luck with new car ken!

2007/08 Acura TSX (aka Euro Accord). Drives nice for FWD and decent gas mileage.

I'd go with an Inifinit G35 sedan or a E46 BMW 330i.

If I had to get rid of my 335i, I would get a base model 08/09 Jeep Wrangler X with A/C (for those rainy/humid hot days)

It's a cool little truck and it is under $20k, brand new and there's 0% financing for 36 months. Put a bit of money down and you're at $400/month. While there are better suv's for the same money, most if not all of them are boring compared to the jeep.

They hold their value very well too from what I can see as I'm looking at older ones.

The base X comes with some dinky tires but you still sit high up and with those tires you'd probably get decent mileage.

anyways, good luck with your choice..
