PhaseP is right. It's called leverage. You could easily move the car in 1st gear with a breaker bar. |

Is your car a manual transmission? When you checked your starter, did you happen to notice any grease on the starter's gear or the flywheel?
If so, it may be possible that the DMF and/or clutch is bad. These questions are based on a recent thread where the OP described a very similar ordeal with regard to his E9x not starting, and making the same type of starting noise when trying to do so: Another dual mass flywheel puking grease and single mass conversion http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1452864 Keep us updated on the progress & results of your findings. Good luck.

SOOO after putting in a new used motor and taking the old one home I finally found time to open it up. And here it is guys...looks like the previous owned had his belt break and it got sucked into the old pan and clogged up the oil pick up tube. whats odd is never remembered seeing an oil pressure light on during the 5 months I've owned it before it seized up.
Sorry but I don't know how to upload photos but here are the links to them. https://ibb.co/kfKxDH https://ibb.co/dMgAYH https://ibb.co/muT2fx https://ibb.co/hWmoLx https://ibb.co/k7Ua0x |

I'm confused. Where did that belt come from? How did it get there?
Sorry to hear about your seized motor. Quote:

So from what I've been told from my friends who are familiar with E90 is that when a serpentine belt breaks and is driven for a long time and it can get stuck behind the crank shaft pulley. then it can get pushed by the crank shaft seal into the oil pan. |

I'm still sort of in a state of disbelief! Guess I'll replace my belts and pulleys sooner rather than later. Did the motor leak oil through the crankshaft seal?

I recently replaced mine for the fear of belt going into pan, didn't think of it going this far. Another sad part is the previous owner and possibly a shop most likely intentionally skimped on the repair by not getting the belt out of the pan. They must have just put a new crank seal and belt on for the cheap fix. In this case the cheap fix resulted in oil starvation from belt material in the oil pickup causing piston(s) to weld to the cylinder(s) preventing crank rotation. Strange about not seeing an oil warning. Thanks for the update and sorry to hear of your misfortune. |

Good to hear your up and running, it's unfortunate it came at your expense and wasn't taken care properly before. The belts in these cars are so prone to ofhg leaks and its ramifications that hopefully, people see what a $10 gasket is capable of. I bought parts of a n54 that lost the war to a leaking ofhg.

Also the switch at least in case of N52 is 0.2-0.5bar that is effectivelly same than having no pressure switch if your oil pump fails to produce sufficient pressure levels. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1979295 EDIT: but your engine must have been throwing vanos codes because vanos needs certain amount of pressure to operate within tolerances or at all?
