Just curious, are you using 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch spacers?

I don't use a spacer, just use some sealant, snap the fins off the bottom of the enclosure so it sits low and then seal all holes.
Then put the carpet over the grille, works a treat.

I used standard silicone and just put a bead around it, let it sit overnight, then a second one right before I went to put the sub in the enclosure. That square part where the wire goes through takes alot though so give it some time to dry before cranking the sub up.

ontopofm! i was able to make some "spacers" for my grills and the subs sounds sooooooooooooo much better, especially at higher volumes now! I was also able to increase the bass level by three and it still sounds awesome. Thanks again for that discovery ontopofm. Keep us posted on what spacers you'll be doin.

here are the spacers (two 1/4 stack together) that i came up with, havent put it on yet, i drilled the holes to fit the tabs on the grills, it came out nicely, i bought only 8 screws thinking each grill only needs 4, now i need 4 more, the thread are different though, i couldnt find anything like the oem screws

These are very nice and a great idea for those who have already installed their SWS-8s (do they interfere with the seat movement tough?).

For those of you who have not installed the speakers yet I would reccomend that you copy my speaker install http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=145075&page=2
doing it that way will not require any spacers

ey guys, just wanted to share how i did my spacers. Its not as good as what ontopofm made (actually it doesnt even come close to it! ) but yeh!! here are some pics!!

First things first though, I ripped ALL of that foam crap from under the carpet so theres really no way it'll touch the subs:

My spacers! haha. i cut 2 pens into small pieces...and tadaaaaa
Make sure you buy longer screws too since the orig ones will be too short.

Heres how it sits over the enclosure. Enough clearance so the sub doesnt hit the grill any more!

Farther pic. Still enough clearance for the seat too.

Look at all the foam crap i ripped!

OVERALL i my setup now. 10000000x better since i can actually raise the volume ALOT higher than before and not be worried.
