Everyone always thinks of STUFF. We all have to much of it. Give gift of LIFE EXPERIENCE...go somewhere, see another country, new cultures and people! He will remember it the rest of his life!!!! Priceless!!!! |

I think right there you answered your own question with the perfect gift for him. Get him his own though, don't give him yours.

I got cash for graduation.
I think I used it all on car parts. I appreciated it too.

High School or College?
I'm probably going to be in the minority here, but when I graduated high school my parents gifted me a new Rolex GMT Master II. In all honesty, I got much LESS for graduating college and from there beginning law school (I guess my gift for graduating college, other than family dinners and what not, was my parents helping pay for law school)

Thank you all for the great ideas!
I really like this idea. I may just go this route but will need to ponder it a bit. Great idea! Quote:
Both of my boys have been getting these since birth from their mother. Quote:

Meh....this is risky. I wouldn't mind to get him a job at my place of employment. In fact I would very much like him to follow in my footsteps. The problem with this is that they have been raised (not by me) to have a particular mentality. The mentality prevents them from keeping/staying at one job for more than 2 months. It saddens me but they do not have my work ethic and I'm not going to put myself in an odd spot with my employer. If they were to show me some dedication and work ethic in the future, then absolutely. Quote:
I'd rather buy him his own. He can get mine after I pass or something as a heirloom. I'd really hate to part with mine considering the deal I got on mine. Quote:
I'm not opposed to this idea. The only downfall here is that I would like for him to have a tangible item that years from now he can hold, show his kids and say, "Dad got me this for graduation." & Quote:
Not a bad idea. This may be something the three of us do together in a couple of years. I'd give him my E93 and keep the LFA. He's not a Rolex guy. To be honest, I'm not either. Between varying color combos, they all look the same. Quote:

I seriously just went from Rolex to Taco Del Mar Thank you everyone for your replies. Some really good answers in here. You guys did not disappoint. |

It's only a watch, your phone can tell you the time.
If he likes your F1 give it to him now with an envelope with the $500. The money he will blow on whatever, the watch if presented to him properly, knowing what it (the watch) means to you will show him how much he means to you, he will cherish that watch and always carry you with him when he wears it. It is not about the cost it is about the love.

My youngest is a freshman in college. He mentioned to us he wants to do a year or 2 abroad. If I knew that when he was graduating HS, I might have started a matching fund for his expenses to do so.
Push him out of his comfort zone. There is nothing like the memories of going somewhere "foreign" |

You could use that $500 and give him something priceless...
You could send him to The EJT86 School for Learning! Tuition for the first semester is only $500. Yes I do take checks. Open enrollment starts now! |

What are your main courses of study that you offer? I wish colleges offered courses of real life situations. I refrain from making suggestions as I'm sure these interwebs are patrolled. |
