Take your wheel off, remove your wheel whell (about 8 screws) Take the back casing off the headlight (5 more screws & these are harder to get to) Take out and replace the D1S bulb (Easiest part) Put all 15 screws back on in reverse order. There's a DIY with good pics.

The 6K lights look great booforty's car. They do have a blue tint to them. I thought 6K lights would be more white. I was thinking on getting the 8K. Now seeing the 6K makes me think the 8K's will be too blue.

I have the 4300K OEM Xenons in my 335d but fitted 6000K HID kit in my X5.
The OEM Xenons in the 3 series are superb, if a little on the yellow side, powerful, good range, a solid block of light that allows you to pick out everything. For actual driving, (which is what the car is generally for!) I found the 6000K light is pretty feeble and completely rubbish in twilight. The definition is poor in dry conditions and rain seems to act as a filter, the light becomeing really "washed out". (I do make a point of keeping the lenses clean) I have since removed the kit and gone back to the original Halogens! When I get round to it (credit crunch is causing an 'essentials only' spending policy at the moment) I will go back to Xenons, but will go for 5000K rather than 6000. The blue light might look pretty but IMO doesn't do the main job very well - lighting the road up.

We have 9 pairs of D1S 6k bulbs left from old stock (ie when exchange rate was good!). The forum price is £69.99 inc VAT plus £3 postage. After they run out the price will go up to reflect up to date currency exchange.
GP Thunders (in E92 fitment) are also available for an additional £24.99. We also have LED markers coming in for the E90 and E92 next week. I have one set of E90 LED markers which I can sell at the old price of £59.99 inc VAT and postage. CD is running our D1S 6k bulbs and GP Thunders on his E92. You can call us on 01582 584 000 to place orders. We are currently redesigning our website Evolve Automotive and will have more products including suspension, exhausts and carbon fibre parts listed for all E9X's. This should be completed in the next week or so. |
