The C300 is not much of a sport sedan compared to the 3 series. It's more luxury than sport. The C350 is sportier but does not offer a manual transmission. However it does BRAKE and STEER well.
Thanks, Mike. |

Totally Off-Topic here: I'm seriously considering a C63 for my next car.
We'll see what BMW has in its arsenal to fight this then (2009/2010). EDIT: And yes, I'm underwhelmed by the E9x M3.

Totally different feel to the drive. And the CL doesn't come in a 300 Model. Only: CL550 CL600 CL63 AMG CL65 AMG The CL is a beast! I'd take it over the 6 series. CL65 AMG over the M6 all day. Sorry not meaning to |

judging by the fact that the OP's entire first post, story, and title are about the C300.........it's pretty obvious that the CL300 part was a typo.

I agree. I test drove the C-class (both 300 and 350) at a MB event and I was quite disappointed. Handling, steering, and brakes felt inferior to my 3-series. As others said, the only thing going for the C-class is looks, but even that it's only ahead of the C-pillar.

dealer sales people are a joke sometimes.
DS mode is the same as "S" mode going up a hill and then punching it? Should have been in "S" since it would have to shift down from 7th gear... the problem with having so many gears with a low HP motor. Braking is dismal until you heat up the pads a bit. Definately not BMW breaks but I think the MB pads are ceramic based. Since the car was a dealer car, it was probably adapted for easy driving. True the C300 motor can be underpowered at times but get it into "S" mode, do some spirited runs and then see it shine. It's no 335 but it can be comparable to the 328i HP wise The interior is not as good as the BMW but both suck compared to Audi's IMHO |

well you will just need to appreciate that the 335i and C300 is built and designed with different philosophy~
I love both cars, but they are just for different purpose~

I test drove a C300 also and the interior just looks like a really nice Chrysler.

Sorry, but after all this readings I don't know if the C300 brakes well or not. Can you tell me?
One of the features of my 325i that I like is its very efortless way of braking. How do you compare it to the Mercedes?

I only drove the C300 and I call tell you that the breaking is no where near that of any BMW 3 series. It takes a lot more foot power to make the car stop...its a joke! Drive one yourself and see what you think.

My mom has a C350 sport. And I like it. Granted it doesn't have the power or refinement of the 335i but i would definitely pick it over a 328/325 (no offence). I love the look and the interior. The navigation is ages ahead of ours. With that AMG body kit, it looks very aggressive, and has a commanding look. The only cons for the price my mom paid (all options) it doesn't have memory seats, it doesn't have park distance and the lack of comfort access was a major inconvenience. The navigation inputs disable themself when in motion. It does let you watch DVDs when parked. You can tell they cut short on the seats (least supportive and adjustability), the antenna (shark fin) is black across the line regardless the color (which is pretty retarded because my mom has a white car with a black antenna - wtf).

Test drive it and see for yourself. That's the best way to make a decision. Don't make a decision based on what others say especially in a forum that is not geared towards the car you're looking to get. |

I like the C300. My friend picked up an 08 for $32k.
For $32k it is a bargain. However, MB cannot sell $32k cars without cutting a lot of corners.

Test drove both. e90 > C300 IMO. MB did a good job with the re-style. It looks good.

I drove a C350 and was quite impressed with it. MB isn't my thing, but I just don't understand all the bashing. MB builds a solid, decent handling, nice looking car to compete with the 3 series.
Just accept it and move on. |

the reason i said a C350 is because the cost of a fully C350 is the same of the of an equally equiped 325xi.
