HOT HOT oil temps. Like 285-300, depending on ambient temps.
Approaching 40 track days. Still hasn't grenaded on me. Running Procede at a conservative 12psi. Dump a few gallons of race fuel in there to combat the AIT increases. I will tell you this. I slap around E46 M3s all day long. I even slap the E92 M3 around - both in straights and corners. Granted, I went beyond power increases and I'm running TCK coilovers and plates and Dot-R rubber. |

I've had 5 track days so far with temperatures ranging from low 60's to lower 80's. I've never had a limp mode or an oil temperature over about 265. My car is stock '07 335i sedan, MT, sport package (factory oil cooler)

I have hit 285...even 290 once..but once I saw that temp..I did a cool down lap. I constantly watch my oil temps when on track.

I limped with the stock airbox. I've only done this past weekend with the dual cones and honestly it was better. I'll be getting the RPI scoops to get some more air into the engine on top of replacing coolant and getting that oil cooler. But really the intake made no or if anything positive difference.

Oh and yes, the 335i/xi walks ALL over any previous chassis M3 hands down.

1-2 track events per month for this 335i!
The E9x cars have much better suspension geometry than the old E46 cars. The old RTAB on the E46 cause too much unwanted toe changes. The new 5 link system is much better keeping the alignment in check. Not to mention the much less unsprung weight. |

Did the E92 M3 have R-compound tires on? If so that is some serious wheelin your doing. Did you install a LSD? Not really priority to be the fastest car out there. I just want something reliable. |

As long as the car has an upgraded oil cooler I dont see it being a problem. If you have no oil cooler then it really plain sucks. Factory oil cooler will keep you going with hot oil and will eventually limp on a tight course with hot ambient air temps. Any aftermarket oil cooler and its hard to overheat.

I'm convinced the VK Oil Cooler will 100% fix the limp problem. The OEM cooler obviously keeps people only limping once in a blue moon and the VK unit has greater capacity. It should be released any day now (within the next week or two).

I will and I think that it does. I also want to take my fogs out and build some cooling ducts into there. I have the fiberglass i just need to find a cool dry day to take everything apart.
