H pill w/ 93 oct definately helps. The dual-cones doesn't hurt either but I don't know how much it helps on about 10-11 psi if boost. Makes me want to run my buddy's Porsche Carrera S again.

Wake up buddy, Do you really think a 335 has a chance agaisnt a 500 hp car?
The 04 sl55 had just under 500 hp. I'll say again unless the 335 was heavily modified the sl is going to put bus lengths on it. I had an 04, now i have an 08 with a nice power increase. The sl63 is marginally faster than the 55, due to a 7 speed gearbox, not the engine. |

Those mercs are fat and heavy, 500 hp on a merc wont do you any good except at the high end.
When my car was stock SL55s and E55s do not start pulling until I shift into 4th, now though not even 63s can catch up, black series aside, you can flaame all you want but the truth is the truth.

Again, you are not looking at the whole picture. Yes it has an S-load of hp and torque, but it also weights nearly 4300 pounds...CURB WEIGHT, so no driver included in that figure. The UNLADEN weight for the E92 335i is 3571lbs. To get curb weight, it is generally said that Unladen - 187lbs (85kg) = Curb. The 85kg number is for the driver and luggage. So the SL55 AMG is nearly 900 pounds heavier than the 335i. And that's not even looking at gearing, which also plays a significant part in how the hp/torque is put down to the road.
From drag times, the stock SL55 AMG's run the quarter mile in 12.5 for the good ones to 12.9, so a lightly modded 335i should be able to keep up fairly easily. Moral of the story: HP/Torque numbers are not everything, and I don't know why people keep insisting that they are. Edit: Hotrod should know too since he has some of the fastest 335 1/4mile times on Dragtimes, wtg. |
