Fact is, the Cayenne and Macan are class leaders and are fanatic SUVs no matter which way you slice them. They also have pulled MANY customers away from BMW, Merc, and Audi...and will only do so more as they expand the lineup. They also lead way to cars like the GT2/3/4 and hopefully upcoming halo car which are at any time likely the best car in the market. |

All three generations share the same wheelbase as the Touareg and Q7. Obviously the Macan of both generations is the Q5 chassis. |

I am blessed enough to own two Porsche and the 911 is still aspirational for me. And it doesn’t matter which 911 you own, they are all iconic, even the fried egg headlight ones. The author of the article would probably like it if the 1967 911 were still being built today. He should just go buy one of those. And that’s the value of the brand as a sports car manufacturer.....you can easily still find them despite being a lower volume car.
Times change and car manufacturers evolve or die. The 911 has become the luxury GT and the Cayman is taking the place of the old 911. I’m hoping to find a fairly well loaded 991.2 Carrera once the new 911s start rolling out. I will probably replace my Corvette with it. |

Yes, the Macan and Q5 are shared, but they certainly changes quite a bit on the Macan. The current Cayenne was developed knowing they use the chassis for multiple cars...but again, everyone is doing this now across any brand. |

I love Chicago style food. You think a fucker from Philly bragging bout' steak n' cheese and I'll listen how better it is then my Italian Beef with hot giardiniera dipped in gravy and ugly as delish! Might as well demand all Chicago joints will go out of business serving this shit that looks like shit and eats yum!
Certain Porsche should do just fine. |

The only critique I have of Porsche is how the 911 has become uber GT car. Not that its bad, just larger, heavier and well, a GT car.
Fortunately the mid-engines exist and we all should rejoice their existence. I do hope sales numbers remain OK and they don't kill the line: that would leave the brand to the Macan as the entry point, and shameful. - b |

Ehh the article is a little extreme. Porsche is just offering new variants in segments where there is competition. So far the 992 is getting absolutely rave reviews so it sure doesn't seem that Porsche has lost its way.

The Cayenne saved Porsche and made it a powerhouse. It took in revenue from a product that many wanted and used the profits to pump out cars very few could afford or want. It is only logical that VAG dumps their Q8/Urus into the fray with a Porsche badge. Considering how little it will cost to retool it as a Porsche versus how much it would bring in is a no-brainer. While I am not a fan of these vehicles I am a fan of keeping driver's cars, and enthusiast cars on the road and available.

My wife and I each had a Macan S and now have a Macan GTS and it really is a phenomenal car and love it. X4M40 whatever they call it doesn’t feel half as good. I do think the SQ5 feels like a much better built car than the BMW. The BMW cars these days feel brittle and cheap to me and don’t age well. |

The 992 is a masterpiec in every regard. It’s more GT yet sharper and more precise. Nothing else combines daily use and supercar track performance and handling like a 911 and this is just the entry point for the 992.

Porsche will be just fine, apparently there is a lack of real material to write an article about.

Just like 99.9% of articles out there, it's one person's subjective opinion and he's using a polarizing click-bait headline to try and juice up his page-views, since true journalism is basically dead and it's a fight to get the top-viewed article instead of the top-written article.
It's why I spend most of my time on forums and don't visit any automotive media sites anymore.

Shame on a company that realizes the market and capitalizes to increase growth (that then trickles over to the part of Porsche everyone likes for further development).

I hate this Cayenne Coupe, not even needed, a less sporty, taller, same cargo capacity of a Macan and less sporty again. I'm sure it's fast and can probably do what the X6 does but I hated the X6 too. X4, X6, GLE/GLC coupe, Cayenne Coupe, Q8.. All are freaking pointless.
