Just a heads up the R can't be discounted like the GTI's , there's very little profit margin in them and they're imported so they're very stingy.
Might as well get a civic type R if you have that kind of money and it won't depreciate like a VW haha |

Full disclosure - I own an '18 R as a second car. Having driven several generations of both? The R is the better car, the GTI is the better value. Visually, I like the GTI better, but as a practical daily the R is just so well planted and consistent. As good as the GTI is, it's still obviously a front driver. Slap a tune on a DSG R and you'll embarrass 90% of the cars on the road. Plus - I have no idea about GTI resale values, but used R's are so rare, prices are shocking high used.
Plus, as an added bonus, where I live without a bit of exaggeration, there are more Mclaren's running around than R's. I think my local dealer might have had 2 or 3 2018's? In a year of ownership I've run into 2 other R's and an R32. That's about it. Either way I think you'll enjoy! |
