Meh. The car is still fugly. At least they could have redesigned the car some more, especially the rear.

Anyone else think it's excessive to spend $100k+ on a Cayman? Wow.

I thought about selling my Exige to either buy a GT4 or the new Evora GT430 coming out, but then I came to my senses after a drive and said hell no. Well, the GT430 is badass and more usable, so... lol

I forgot that this thread where we were "debating" if it was going to be the GT3 engine or not. I still stand by this:

.

I really don't believe it's just about not doing it because they "couldn't", meaning the configuration was a challenge and pricing was a driving factor, but also strongly because they "wouldn't" since then you'd have a positioning issue and Porsche isn't new to this game.

It's kind of funny looking at the split reactions on Rennlist. The GT4/718 group is pretty disappointed and shocked it's not the GT3 engine and won't redline at 9k, whereas the GT3 group is more "well duh, but it'll still be a great car with a flat NA 6 redlining to 8k.

I have no doubt it'll be fantastic.

the car has a place in the market as a compact, rear engined car. for $100k, the value is there.
they can't put the gt3 engine in it, it would be faster. thats not the purpose of a gt4 level car.

Very nice. Glad they prioritized feel and enjoyment along with manual transmission over 0-60 times and other modern talking point BS.

Porsche always does it right. Unlike BMW lol...

It will be better just like the 981 GT4 did. Porsches have always had better throttle response on their engines. GT3s don’t have ITBs and have way better throttle response than the S65 did. Same goes for the 991.1S/GTS.

The new 991.2 Speedster added ITBs to the GT3 motor. I suspect that means the 992 GT3 likely will too.

True, they did, but I’m surprised they would given the throttle response is already second to none.

TBH I think they're hitting the performance limit with a NA flat 6 and just looking for any and all minor incremental improvements at this point, even if the effect is marginal.

As much as car enthusiasts rally behind the "save the NA!" campaign, the truth is I really do think we're nearing the limits of what a manufacture can get out of these given current emissions limits. Truth be told, I don't dread the day Porsche throws a twin turbo into the GT3 because I know the performance will be BONKERS. Just look at the GT2.

But I'll probably still hold onto my 991.2 for old-time's sake as my NA car
