I have no practical need for it, but I'm happy that I got it.

I just leave my keys and my cellphone in my bookbag, and the CA and Bluetooth takes care of the rest....

I had a 1er loaner for the weekend with CA.

Definitely a nice feature, but I do not see much difference in pressing a button on the fob or touching the doorhandle to unlock. Plus inserting the fob is not too much stress...

What I need to know: Does the car lock automatically if you just walk away from it carrying the fob in your pocket?

BTW: There is a new package available in germany, called 'innovation package'. It includes xenons, adaptive headlights (yes, they sell that feature seperatly over here ) and CA.

All I want is xenon, but for additional € 500 I would get the other 2 features, which would be € 1000 if ordered seperately.

Should I go for the package?

Can you get the car without power windows? They seem like some convenience/lazy/cool factor to me. I think I'd be perfectly happy with cranks.

A lot of people in small towns and rural areas do not lock their cars. Some even leave their keys in the ignition when the car is parked. If you ask these people why they don't lock up, they will give you some kind of reason, usually amounting to it is inconvenient to bother with keys when they are not necessary.

With Comfort Access I can enjoy the same convenience these people enjoy without risk of theft, and without danger for kids at play.

I guess I'll just have to try and enjoy the rest of my BMW, without the CA.
For God's sake, please spend the extra $500 so you don't have to feel like me, and get reminded on a weekly basis how great it is.

Gotta have them both. CA because you want it. Bluetooth for safety. If you had to give up one, flip a coin.

Consider this:

10 seconds to find the key, then lock or unlock the door.
Do this four times a day.
That's 40 seconds per day.
You drive every day. That's 365 x 40 = 14,600 seconds per year.
You keep the car for five years. That's 14,600 x 5 = 73,000 seconds.
73,000 seconds is equal to 1216 minutes, or about 20 hours.
Many of you make more than $25 per hour.
20 hours x $25 per hour = $500.
CA pays for itself, without considering anything else.

This is an old thread, but a relatively interesting question. I'd pick BT over CA. Both are "you don't know how great they are until you get them" options, though.

Every time I see some dipshit driving a BMW and holding a cell phone to their head, I laugh and then shake my head in disgust. If you don't have bluetooth, then turn the phone OFF when you get in the car.

No, he is a BMW service advisor. Who else would claim that it takes 10 seconds to find a key? Hand ==> pocket = 1 second for me.

Used to be a financial advisor. I spent too much time calculating and not enough time selling.

I have never been a BMW service advisor.

CA is just another option. Having comfort access is worth more to me than the $500 I don't even miss. And I'll have CA for a long time to come, and enjoy having it. If I still had the $500 that went into CA, the money would just be sitting there, not giving anything back but maybe 10 or 12 percent average annual return. I don't really need the money.

Sometimes you just want to enjoy some of the finer things even if they are just details.

If you really could use the money better somewhere else, then use it somewhere else.
