so just got my rep from BMW Manhattan,

I'm pretty sure it can't possibly take 2 days, must be a line of wait, guess I'll wait until the volume comes down...

Unfortunately the recall requires a reprogramming for your system and couldn't be done Saturday. With this kind of recall we would need to schedule it during the week as it requires a connection with BMW NA servers only available during the week. It would take 2 business days to complete. As for the navigation update we should be able to complete that at the same time. Let me know when works best for you

Just dropped off my M340 for the recall. I've also been having issues with Apple CarPlay since updating to iOS 13. They're "looking at it." 😒

I don't see that on the list.

Land Rover just issued one for the exact same reason for cars with surround view cameras. Received the letter in the post yesterday.

My 2017 M3 had an issue when Sirius radio subscription expired - they would put up a renewal advert when you were trying to reverse blocking the view. I had to call Sirius to get them to remove it.

Hello folks, here is some important information from your back up camera while you are driving in reverse but please don't mind his short commercial break.

So I need to be inconvenienced because if I'm a moron and change my contrast settings and brightness settings to the worst possible output, my backup camera cannot see...

I think this is called darwinism, not consumer recall. Who changes their brightness and contrast settings anyway? They're perfectly fine right in the middle.

Rather strange, every single vehicle from my Audi, to BMW, to VW, to Lexus, to Porsche can all bypass the camera in reversed by selecting an infotainment option like the "NAV" button. If this a recallable offense, then I foresee other car manufacturers following suit.

My 19 M4cs does this too, but it's not part of this recall.

It's 2019 and BMW still has to bring cars in for a software update? 😒 If it were Tesla everyone would just get the update overnight as they slept.

Could this be part of the reason my custom MY20 X5 has been in QC for 2 weeks?

they are actually changed the range of minimum and maximum brightness in backup camera settings.
If I code my car, they will reset it all my coding ?

Last time my car was in (one year service) they updated my software and told me that they only had two bays for software updates. If that is still true, and this fix requires a software update, the dealership will be severely backed up. My car was built in November of 2017 and the software was updated in December of 2018. I am hoping that fixed it and I don't need another software update.

I got lucky, got it done on Saturday after all, took like 2.5 hr (from drop off), I was the first one so that probably helped...

My check engine light came on. Probably the grill issue but I brought it in and they said that I was due for a software update. So...alas...I will lose my codings again.

They gave me a totally stripped X3 as a loaner...worst loaner I have ever received from BMW. Didn't even have navigation.

Presumably it has the same ICE as in my 530e but tuned higher. What struck me is how rough the engine seems compared to my car.
