Glad I replaced the belt, had a chunk wearing out pretty good, replaced tensioners and inspected all other pulleys. Also installed front inlet, can't wait for the rear one lol. The front sits pretty damn close to the pulleys, i think I'll add some zip ties for peace of mind. It also appears my valve cover gasket is leaking so I'm glad i got the VTT cover going on.

Valve cover going in today, along with high and low side catch cans (plugging the ports). Oh and i need to tackle the rear inlet YAY!
**edit** Rear inlet is in, biggest struggle was the two t-30s holding the stock inlet to the back of the motor and wrestling it on the turbo snout, took 4 hours total, pic of my 1/4 inch wrench and T30 bit i used for the two bolts. Now i can focus on the valve cover and PCV situation.

Nice, I'm curious if you can send me the link to the seller you got the parts from... I'm not far south of you.
Also, how was the removal of the headlight cover? Are the LCI's any easier than the Pre-LCI's. I used a cerakote headlight restoration kit this weekend and I am very unhappy with the results. |

PreLci and Lci housings are the same and it's a pain in the ass to open them up, just take a Dremel with a cutting wheel and cut around the edge, then i used a flat head to clear the "channel" of the plastic I cut off from the housing. I didn't use the oven i used a heat gun to heat up the stock butyl and used screwdrivers, hook bill knife and the bavgruppe spreader tool to separate the lense from the housing. It's time consuming but not hard.

Nice, thanks, yeah I guess it is time to see if I can source a set, I'd like to be able to keep the car on the road while I do these and take my time. I'd really like to put a better set of projectors in the housing while retaining the dynamic adaptive functions.

They are 100% in working order, no broken tabs, no leaking, etc. could use a good polish but other than that they are clean. Upgraded LEDs in the angel eyes too. I have them listed in the market place. Open to offers.

Really happy how these came out. A lot of work and they are not perfect but look good enough for the old E90.

Corrected the paint by washing, claying with iron decon and clay mit, corrected with Meguiars D300 using microfiber cutting pad and then polished with Meguiars M205 using a white foam pad. Then used 70% isopropyl alcohol to ensure all the compound and polish was off the paint; finally applied two coats of Avalon King Ceramic Coating. Picture is after 48 hours of cure time.

Got the Valve cover on, plugged the vacuum ports for the low side and topped it all off with the VTT dual catch can setup. Think i need some better looking coils now; bimmer life or precision?

Where does the larger VVT hose connected to the left catch can go behind the valve cover near the firewall? As far as coils, Eldor coils will take up to 600hp |

I'm always depressed when I look at how clean the engine bays are in old California cars..... I hate the rust belt.

OP, back to post #3 of yours.
1)Is at carbon fiber "eye brow" for a preLCI type head light housing? I have 2011 LCI E90/335d. I will either paint my whitish/yellowing ones gray (my car is spacegray) or possibly try what you have. Would you mind giving me the link please? Curious if it is the same source i have found. 2) Post 14, you show the DTM halos mounted. Did you retain the outboard OE AE tube for a mount (for DTM) please? I'm going with Umnitza LED rings and was planning to use the outer ring and glue to it. Thanks for your help I'm adding a pictures of what I did to my HID projectors. I got a pair of STi-R clear lenses and had to iterate on outspacing them to get a nice focus and cutoff. The picture of my stairwell wall was an earlier outspacinf of 4.07 mm. I ended up going with 5.47 mm outspace. I have another picture out in driveway. This is a projector sitting on a barstool hooked to ballast with 12V battery. I say this as the cutoff is way high up on door and would be too too high if on the car. Housings are still not on the car yet. Last edited by BB_cuda; 06-16-2020 at 03:48 PM.. |

https://www.bavgruppedesign.com/prod...h68z-xww5f330i Yes, I used the stock halos to secure the DTM rings. Yours look good just need to adjust them down a bit.

Got the car smogged for registration so we are good for another 2 years. Located a manual trans for my swap. Just need to decide in a clutch setup and that's going in. Snapped a couple more photos of the car.

How did you wire the angel eyes? Are they switchback? Does the welcome lights for the angel eyes still work? Thanks! Great thread to read. |
