I can't get over the fact there are only touch screen controls. No control stick or yolk, no knobs, no switches. I hope there isn't too much turbulence when they commence manual operations (which is in the flight plan).

Isn't the manual operation once already in space though?

Hopefully the launch is a go. Looks like weather is bad right now and may stop the launch.

Yeah. I wonder why they do that instead of just waiting it out. At some point the weather guy was like maybe at 10min after launch time.

EDIT: Oh well they just explained it had to do with orbital dynamics and if they didn't launch at that time I guess they wouldn't get where they needed to.

They have time it perfectly to get to the space station. I'm sure its location in orbit can change a lot in 10 minutes

Yeah they explained it later. That's why I'm not a rocket scientist. Hey bro just chill out for 10 min. 10 min later they are on their way to the moon.

For the people that live in the area, where do you go to see it? I've thought about driving up there.

Kennedy Space Center in Florida. I believe there is a viewing area for visitors to watch launches from. Due to covid19 though the viewing was not allowed there and no one was allowed to gather.

Yeah I know about that I was just wondering just somewhere out in public where you could at least see something.

When I was in Cocoa Beach they said you could watch them right from the beach I believe?? They are discouraging it due to COVID, but I think you can get a pretty good view from anywhere in the area.

I did the tour once. The facts alone make it worth it. I was fascinated. I can't remember how many yards around it everything dies just from the noise, but it was impressive. These were shuttle days though.

Why are we still shooting giant metal dicks with people in them to space?

If it's not speeding up my WiFi, keep it grounded imo

Some parks/parking lots were limiting the number of cars allowed and others, like Jetty Park, were doing that as well as only allowing annual pass holders. Playalinda Beach in Titusville and Cocoa Beach both usually have a lot of spectators for launches.

I've watched from Shiloh's in Titusville that has a bar and outside seating area on the Indian River, but their parking lot could fill up early on a launch day. I've also parked within a few blocks of Playalinda Brewing Company. Then walked there to cool down. From there it's a couple of blocks to the river or to Space View Park.

Traffic after a launch, particularly if it has more significance than normal like this one, is on a whole 'nother level. Titusville is tiny and the roads leading out of town get really backed up with all the spectators after a launch.

I usually love things like these... but are we just doing what we did 30 years ago?... for a much higher cost... yeah I question society at times.
