Thank you. That is very solid and useful advise. It is actually very hard to find someone with experience to chime in on a question based on use specifics. Like track days.
I just want something that can dive into a corner that won't make me feel like I'm going to die and get me out the other side with enough power not to be banging on your steering wheel pleading it to go faster. For right now I have invested in new rings, King Bearings for mains and rods, and all new bolts. Crank assembly had no discernible wear. Cylinder walls are even. I almost regretted tearing it apart afterwards after finding it was as decent as it was in the end. I'll get the block back together and work my way to the head next. I think for now I am leaning towards a fully rebuilt block, all wear down parts replaced, all new gaskets and seals, timing, etc. Port and polish the head stg 1. Plug the PCV system and go with a external PCV from RB and solve the intake valve gunk issues for good. Hybrid turbos will get 2" inlets and good outlets. 3.5" exhaust system all the way back from VSRF. Let everything breath as it should. Then we have look for a solid tuning relationship with the right company. Someone who knows what a track day car needs setup as, not based on drag times and 40 rolls on the highway. Start out conservative and build up based on the safety of the car. As someone told me....if you don't have the seat time, you don't want to show up to your first track day with more than you can handle. |
