Hah, yes, I guess you could say you're lucky. I had an E46 325ci back in the day and the exhaust flap was stuck open on my car since the first week I had it. It didn't make much of a difference in sound on that car though.

You are correct, but its not RPM driven, its based on throttle position. Basically when you are in vac (cruising, partial throttle) the flap is closed, and when you are in boost (moderate throttle, WOT) the flap opens up.

Can someone tell me pls. how the flap should work? Today I watched after I started the car, and after a minute, the flap opened, and exhaust gas came out of the driver's pipe. So is it supposed to close again before you drive off, and only open above a certain RPM / throttle position?

I don't want to do the mod if for some fluke, my valve is always open... how do I check?
