You may be right. The only reason I thought you would be on the Cassiopeia is because the BMW Dealer computer was updated 3 or 4 days earlier for you showing you were on a ship. On Sunday, that computer said I had JUST been turned over to distribution. It didn't even say I was at the port waiting for a ship.
Since BOTH of our cars were produced the same day, it makes sense we are on the same ship, but we'll see. They come into California within days of each other, so it's not THAT critical. Now, hope they don't sink or get delayed in storms. I guess we are all going to have a much better week. Incidentally, I have calendared the approximate date the Jupiter Diamond will be waiting to enter the Panama Canal and if I find it, I'll post a picture of the satellite map showing it sitting at the Canal and maybe actually showing its position going through Canal. Larry P.S. After all this, we may have to get together and show off our cars to each other when we get them. |

My dealer just emailed me: I'm on the JUPITER DIAMOND.
So, SC, assume you are too. USAF, call your dealer and find out which ship you're on. Larry |

Sounds good, my CA called yesterday and confirmed it was on Jupiter Diamond, ETA 5/16. I think Diamond is a direct sail from Bremerhaven to Port Huemue, because Cassiopeia left 3 days earlier and docking on 5/15. I think it actually stops at San Diego (but they have Cassiopeia Ace listed instead?) Well, hopefully no major storm ahead of the voyage. My CA said 7 days after for VDC, I thought priority one should be faster then 7 days? oh well, I am just happy it's in transit and now just crossing my figners oil stock doesn't crash in the next 3 weeks(freaking Valero just went down 4%) and the voyager is a--ako

We won't know anything now until the ship appears at the Panama Canal. And, I have to be lucky enough to actually be online when the satellite picks her up. So, it should take about 15 days to get to the canal. I will start looking a day or two before and after to see.
So, looks like we've got about two weeks to wait for any news. L |

Well,I guess it's 3 to 4 weeks wait then. Hopefully enough time for my oil stock to rebound after today's freaking fiasco. If it crashes, then the wait won't matter anyway, I'll probably be driving a KIA on payment |

Until we get more info, it's gonna be very lonely here.
Hey, I really DO love the Magellan Roadmate 800. There is a reason that Hertz uses it as the Never Lost System. It is totally usable right out of the box and in less than 5 minutes. I was in shock. I opened the box in the parking lot of the Sharper Image and was driving away with it working perfectly in a few minutes. And, what's interesting, the resolution on the screen is, like, twice or 3 times that of the BMW iDrive screen. When I was in my nephew's 550 on Sunday playing with the navigation system, I noticed that the resolution was very much less than the Magellan and a lot less bright. And, the colors on the Magellan are really vibrant and the words are really clear and easy to read. I can tell you, I wouldn't doubt that if I take the 330 on a long trip, I'll take the portable Magellan unit just in case. It's that good. And, with about 10 Gigabytes of info on the US maps, it has so much data you would be amazed. For fun, I put my name in it and I got my law office address. How's THAT for a big database? If you have any questions about it, just let me know. And, if you even want to see it, I'd be happy to let you play with it. Larry |

xcalibr: Congratulations.
We'll try to get you info as the ship gets to the Panama Canal and makes it up the coast of California. USAF: Really look at the 800 because it's a real step up from the 760. If the price is close, the 800 would be the way to go. If the 760 is hundreds of dollars less, then I'd say OK with the 760. Good luck. L |

Actually, it's the opposite. The 760 was out about 6 months or more before the 800 came out. It came out around the time I bought it in November 2005.
Magellan increases the Model numbers as they come out with new units. L |

To USAF:
I just went to the Magellan site and they have a new line of Nav systems coming out this and next month. They have lowered the prices and put traffic reports (real Time) into the system. Take a look at their website. I think it would be a good idea to wait for them to come out, since they will be the latest technology and are priced really well. I paid WAY too much. But, that's technology. L Website is: http://www.magellangps.com/en/produc...ate.asp?bhcp=1 |

So this has become a Megallan GPS thread now? Anyway, all this talk about Megallan GPS system, it's making me feel like the iDrive is inadequate on my e90. I guess that's something to think about...

Well, I've ordered the Nav on my car too. It will be nice to have it built into the car. But, just because it's a factory product, doesn't mean it's the best or latest technology.
As to the GPS tangential thread, we have to do something for the next 2 weeks, don't we? Have a great week. L |
