I'm gonna disappoint a lot of people and say the G87 M2 is not going to be wider, the G42 is the M2 just with different rear and front bumper. BMW gave the non M the M fenders to supplement the costs of making this type of car that doesn't sell a ton.

It definitely got a mild version of bmws new terrible design language but I don't hate it as much as the g22. Time will tell I guess. To be honest it may just make the decision to make my next build an M2C that much easier.
It shares the same weak hips that the g22 has. And I'm not entirely sure what that trunk area was supposed to be. I don't know why they couldn't just keep following the evolutionary language of the f30/87 but who knows. |

At least it doesn't have those horrendous new grilles BMW 'designers' are so fond of.

As far as the rear goes, the tail lights don't make sense at all. All I meant was stick to a similar layout, something like the F30 vs G20 tail light design.

I'm getting used to it already. Not jumping for joy, but used to it. I'm still not, and probably never will be, used to the G80/82/83. Aka the GAudi. Sorry.....

Another ugly BMW. Plot well and truly lost.
I'm sure it will drive well but can't get past looks. Oddly looks better in white. Glad I put a deposit down on a Lotus Emira. |

that is not accurate, the M2 mules out on the road have distinctly wider fenders as well as wider rubber (running G8X wheel sizes)

That looks absolutely amazing, non-M or otherwise. They've tuned out almost all of the 2-series odd proportions. The rear quarter-panel area is a massive improvement to the profile, and eliminates the last of the "squashed BMW" look of the E82 and F22.
I think the rear can be meaningfully improved by making the lower diffuser area surrounding the exhaust tips less flush with the bumper. That should curve inwards, a la E46 M, which will make the bumper feel less tall and square. Oddly, they executed this much better on the base model. No idea why anyone would buy a Supra when this exists. |

Oh boy, these type of comments just get more dumb the more people write them. How original, BMW lost the plot, as compared to what? The C63S with a 4 cylinder hybrid? Lmao

Change that front kidney for an Audi grille and that's an Audi. You can innovate in every direction while preserving the authenticity of the brand. This new 2 series doesn't know what it is anymore. Whoever designed this 2-series smoked the wrong batch. This isn't an evolution in design. |

You remove the kidney grille and the bmw badges and there's no shot you would of been guessing this was the new 2 series.
I'm not sure what changes happened back at HQ but man it feels like we are in the era of German designers paying homage or borrowing design elements from the eastern world and it used to be the other way around. Maybe I'm just getting older or who knows what but this new era of BMW is separating itself from its roots…imo Kia/ Hyundai etc… all stole looks from Mercedes bmw Audi and some of them put all 3 on one car and now if someone told me this was a Kia or Hyundai trying to compete with the new supra I would believe it. Now that is just on the exterior department. Interior looks good and I'm sure it drives well. |

The headlights and those triangle intakes just don't go together at all. I think either one wouldve been fine on their own if some changes were made to the other. I'm gonna get shot for this but I think vertical grilles wouldve looked better with the triangle intakes please don't hurt me

Well on the bright side, the new BMW design direction should definitely help with resale values on their current lineup.
