Gen_E92: Yes they are linear springs. The measurements are 60mm id and 170mm long (6.69"). We do carry Eibach, IntraX, and Hypercoil race springs should you want to order custom spring rates.

They are both solid setups, I cannot recommend one over the other in terms of quality. I have had the most experience with the KWs so I would recommend those out of my sheer content for their setups but we ran FKs on our E46 and it was a solid setup as well.

Front is linear at 70nm which is about 620 lbs and rear is progressive. Still trying to get the rates.

I will second Craig on the FKs. He sent me a client who had purchased a set for an E92 335. They went together no problem, and to be honest I like the build quality over the KWs, no plastic spring perches or anything of the sort.
When I had to adjust the rear KW perches, sometimes I had to drop the control arm down again to get the perches to adjust, as when its all together they are just too tight, and the KWs have a more coarse adjustment than the FKs, which leads to more muscle effort if you try to raise the car height without unbolting the rear control arm. The FKs, while still a bit of a pain, rotated easier when trying to raise the car up. Also the front coilovers came with billet aluminum perches on the top, so all you had to do was pull the stock struts out, and pull the rotating bearing assembly on the top of your strut assembly, and drop it on the FKs, and viola, done. The KWs I had to reuse the top spring hat, which adds more rubber to the situation, and IMO, for a person who likes to DE at the limit, more rubber is NOT what you want. The FKs eliminate this with their billet spring hat....and this comes standard on the basic set (the ride height adjustable only ones) For daily driving, some might argue that the billet spring hat makes for too much harshness, but I cant stand the fact that people buy coilovers and expect the car to ride like stock. Its a give and take people. Also, one important fact, is that if you wish to run 19" VMR wheels, I have a good feeling they will NOT clear the KW springs on at least the V1 setup. The FKs use a same size diameter spring from top to bottom, unlike the V1s where they run from small to big at the top. His wheels cleared by less than 3/16s of an inch (I would lean towards 1/8 really), and FK springs hug the coilover pretty snugly without any slop. I have pics of them during the install, I will upload them from the camera tomorrow when I get home and let you guys see ![]() Im excited enough, I have a feeling a set will be finding its way onto the E30 next spring when the M50 swap is done... |

aha there's my coils and some pics of the inside of my car, nice! to all users making a coil decision, my early impressions of the FKs are (i) the build quality seems amazing, very solid, beautifully put together, and (ii) although I have only had two pretty short drives with the coils (bring on the weekend, haha!), the stability of the car over bumps is a revelation compared to stock, and as itsbrokeagain says, clearly the ride will be stiffer but that's what sports handling is all about. the ride is completely acceptable for daily driving IMO, and both my short drives included horrible roads in Manhattan.
Definitely very glad I went with the FKs, will write some more detailed thoughts on them once I've had a chance to really test em out and push the car on proper roads this weekend! |
