Installed my UUC Evo 3 yesterday. Took me a LONG time to get the 6 collar screws in (fat fingers I guess).

I absolutely love the feel of this thing. Nice shorter, crisp shifts with a little click from 1st to 2nd.

The only casualty I had was this below. Anyone know what it is?

That plastic piece looks like one of your chassis jack pads on the car.

BINGO!!! we have a winner and it doesn't surprise me it was Bill. Good eye mate!

I should also tell you I had your DIY on my laptop in the garage while I was installing just to double check the right way to do it. EXTREMELY helpful and thanks for putting that up.

oh and just to anyone following this thread wondering about the shifters sitting off to the right. mine was sitting off to the right and it was indeed installed 180 degrees backwards. flipped it around and she sits in there like a beaut. i combined this with the bmw perf. alcantara knob and the feel of shifting is just unbelievebly better. so crisp, so smooth, so awesome!

I fashioned 2 small pieces of wood to fill in the jack pad for the jack stands to sit under. When I jacked the car back up after I was done the wood was all smashed on one side and the jack pad fell out and looked like that.

I will admit to beating those pads up a bit in the past 2 years of owning this car. I want a damn lift so bad!

my father's porsche came with a jack that fits PERFECTLY in the squares of the jack pads. thats what i've been using every time i jack the car up to change out wheels. it's getting annoying though using a crappy little scissor type jack, not to mention thats its probably not that safe. i need those adaptors so i can use my real jack!

Thanks for the comments.

Some vendors make jack pad adapters (and an individual on the forums) to fit the BMW jack pads. ECS Tuning is one:

That's good to know that someone with access to a cnc machine cared enough to actually make this. For the griot's garage crowd perhaps. http://www.griotsgarage.com/

I'm cheap- the soft square of pine worked well enough for me.

I have used them both ways, but the proper way is to cut one to fit the square so that you directly support the weight of the car and don't rely on the plastic jack pad, this used with a floor jack with a flat jack pad. If you decide to cut one be prepared for lots of good smell and dust YMMV
