Gentlemen,
Thank you so much for the detailed and informative replies above, most appreciated! ![]() You have both made very good points for further investigation on my behalf and quite honestly, I had never heard of Chattel Mortgages until now. I determined that a lease would be most beneficial for us as finance could be arranged via the dealership but will now further investigate Chattle Mortgages. With the business being only 8 months old, we are looking at avenues to heavily reduce tax payments whilst still enjoying the fruits of our hard work. I don't think the banks will touch us, being a such new business but worth a shot. Going by the market rates in Sydney for a preowned 2007/2008 335i Convertible (98k+), what would be a good starting point for negotiation off the window price? I've read (as above and in various areas of the forum) that 10-15% is a good starting point but does this still stand true? Thanks again all for your contributions. I've fallen in love with this machine and can't quite shake her out of my head ![]() Cheers, |

Mate, bmw are currently selling optioned 08 models brand new for 110-115k onroad with very little negotiation - and have done so since about november now.
With a low mile <3,000km demo say that has been listed as a bmw australia car or service loan car, just over $100k is possible also. |

When did DCT come out? - I thought it wasn't available for order until around October 2008 which means they would be January 2009 delivery. In which case I still say 'good luck' getting a current 09 model DCT for $110k drive away. You have mentioned these good deals several times now - are you any closer to buying one? If so, what are you getting (options, Kms, etc) for just over $100k?

Hi OZMsport,
No not yet, still can't decide exactly what I want and I have been travelling a lot for work lately; so it's on the back burner until march at this rate. I'll probably get a demo, but just waiting for the right colour and options, etc to show up. Manual or DCT I am thinking which narrows my choices. DCT were in the coutry late december, but you are right, all dct models are technically 09'. Believe it or not but 'bond cars' should usually be cheaper than floorstock. Bond cars are the ones that are at the wharf storage points and are still owned by bmw, not the dealership, so they don't yet owe the dealer anything. Generally the dealers order them from bmw, then once they arrive in sydney or brisbane they go in to bond until they are sold and the dealership pulls them out of bond. They remain allocated to the dealership in bond for 30 days and if the dealer doens't sell it by then, after 30 days the bond car becomes available for any dealer to sell. While it is in bond, no one can access it, but as soon as the dealership pull it out of bond they pay fees to have it as floor stock. Not to be smart, but there are quite a number of people around here who purchased new at 115k or demo close to 100k. Hope this helps Last edited by MFKN3; 03-02-2009 at 06:38 AM.. Reason: spelling |

![]() My experience in buying BMWs is ordering the car and waiting 3 months for it to arrive - because I drive manuals I am forced to order the car as no dealer on the face of the earth seems to stock manuals... maybe the DCT is a viable alternative now ![]() Demo cars are always going to be cheaper so yeah I would expect to get one at a good price... although you might have to wait a while to nab a DCT ![]() Good luck and keep us posted ![]()

$118,000 drive away back in February 2007 (ordered in October 2006). Optioned with metallic paint, sunroof, steptronic.
Value today - probably about $50,000! (20,000km on clock). |

Hi guys,
I am looking at purchasing a 2009 built dual clutch, 335i coupe titanium silver with roof, m-sport, 19' double spoke alloys. How much should I expect to pay? Any dealer recommendations for the Sydney/Central Coast area? Thanks in advance! |

Recent 335i DCT acquisition
Have just purchased a late 2008 BMW executive driven 335i (first registered Jan 09, with 7000 km) and following options:
DCT Metallic paint (Space Grey) Sunroof USB from a Sydney BMW dealer for $95K plus SA Stamp duty which I think is a pretty good deal. List price is over $120K. Price included free service for 1 year etc. And being a company car, real cost is closer to $85K after refund of GST. Living in Adelaide, we don't have much selection of used 335is and Adelaide Motors have no competition (they are offering a 2008 335i with Steptronic for around $120 !) hence have bought in Sydney. Dealer accepted my offer a bit too quickly so probably could have got it for less ! Fly to Sydney on Wednesday and will drive it back. Can't wait ![]() |

Sounds like a good deal.
I got a quote from Adelaide Motors for a new 335 convertible at $125k drive away (white / manual, so that saves a bit). Adelaide Motors do know that there is competition interstate, so if they know that they are going to risk loosing a sale, they will negotiate. However, if you are after a 'barely used' model, then you can't beat shopping around interstate. |

Buying under such circumstance is a first for me and the first auto car I have ever purchased but having had the car now for a few days (and having the first speeding ticket on the drive back...forgot your cops have radar on board !) I am truly impressed with this car even compared with my other car (Boxster S). And no evidence of the rattly wastegate or turbo lag ! |
