well, i can think of many reasons why people would get an xi model, but i let them speak for themselves. As for me, I was going to be in the midwest where it snows a lot, and prior lexus is300 was terrible in the snow, so i got the xi. But plans change, and I'm in cali now w/ no need for xi, but heck..i can't do anything about that now...cost too much to sell it and buy a new one..so i want to lower my xi also...questions is, which springs are better? ACS vs HnR? which one would be cheaper? which one works w/ stock springs better? any aftermarket shocks available? I wish someone could answer these question, but the info on the xi comes sooo slow..so if anyone knows anything please share..thanks.

I purchased an xi because I will drive the car year round in Minnesota. Granted, I also own a Range Rover; however, due to fuel costs and the invariable service issues (what us Rover owners, against our better judgment, call "character") I will instead be putting my usual 200 or so miles a week on the E90. During the summer I want to run 19s with a relatively aggressive stance and minimal wheel gap, hence the springs. Besides, I didn't buy a bimmer with the x-drive system just so I could have a level of clearance that is only marginally higher than stock.

Springs - CEC in CA is thier primary dealer in the US, check out thier Web page for more details.
www.ac-schnitzer.de/ As for lowering an xi - Snow and ice are rarely deep, as the roads in Colorado get plowed pretty well, and when it does pile up a little it is easy to plow through. So the all wheel drive is great for 95% of the winter conditions I run into, including skiing on a regular basis. So I don't need (or want) a jacked up "Sport" Touring, I want a sporty BMW. They had thier reasons I am sure, but Audi doesn't do that, in fact just the opposite, the sportier the Audi the lower it is and chances are it is all wheel drive. Another note: It is not just snow and ice that I bought an xi for. Around here you can come around a corner anytime of year and hit a sandy patch, which can be bad news with a rear wheel drive. Also, I have driven some pretty fast BMWs (Dinan, etc.) and I feel that the all wheel drive does make for a faster cornering car in the real world. One on the top reasons I bought a BMW was for the handling.

I called CEC today to inquire on ACS springs for my car. The sedan springs are about 2 weeks out 'till they get them in. The price is $393.00. A little steep. I already have a order in for the H&R sports with Turner since like March for $260.00 but I figure are at least 8 weeks out by the time Turner gets them.

I'm glad that we're starting to see lowering springs for the xi's on the not too distant horizon... but will there ever be xi coilover setups available? I guess I should check back on this thread in about... 1 year... and we'll be like... "i heard X company is coming out with coilovers for an xi application."
Actually, apparently H&R will have a setup for the xi that is height adjustable but not dampening adjustable. I need the dampening adjustment to go from summer (stiff as hell) to winter (nice and soft for comfort). I hope more companies come out with coilover solutions for the xi. And the waiting continues....

Well, it's been two weeks (post #27) since I called CEC on the ACS springs for 330xi sedan application. I called yesterday and they said still a week or so out till they get a shipment from Germany. I thought I'd share with everybody.

Wow, nice find. I call Eibach a month ago or so and asked about the Xi application and they said nothing available and nothing anytime soon.
Let us know about email inquiry.

Doing some digging around and found the Xi spring part # from this link http://performance.drivewire.com/sus...0xiloweringkit the same as the non-Xi model on this link http://eibach.com/cgi-bin/htmlos.exe...35813400025165
I hate to burst anyone's buble, but I think the first link may be too good to be true. I think Drivewire may have generalized the application.
