Well done - these are not good looking cars by any means and BMW managed to actually make it look good.

Is this the hybrid setup that makes its way into the next gen M cars starting with the 2024 M5?

Man, that thing looks dope as hell. No matter what BMW corporate says, I don't see the design language scream modern day BMW. You could literally plaster any logo on the nose and it could be anything else. I think it looks like a ///Mazda LMP car.

Not entirely but very similar and based on the same design and most components.

Yes, me as well! I have V12 LMR so having a model of the new V8 Hybrid would complement my collection. I cannot wait to see the real car in action and to get my hands on a model!

Yeah, look at all those M badges and then it doesn't even have an S engine, M is further diluting the brand...
Do you even know what a “P” engine is ?

Beautiful temporary paintjob, hopefully the final livery will stay close to this. The rear light signature however:

I like the design of the car, esp. the front "kidney" intakes.

The graphics are ok.
I think something more angular, like a 'dazzle' camo scheme consisting of M stripes, would have been more exciting (and menacing) than amorphous blobs.

I wish they'd shown this after this year's Le Mans. Now it will be sorely missed on Saturday

Agree - would have been great to see it there, like they did when the 8 was launched

Yeah, I'm aware (see e.g. https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1895042), sorry for chiming in to the M memes without marking them explicitly.

Ars Technica have an article on the LMDh today where they say that the battery, the electronic motor and the gearbox are mandated by the rules, the only thing the racing team can control is the engine (well, good for M I guess), so the street-version drivetrain might look somewhat more different:

Quote:
The OEM supplies the engine, electronics, and styling. But many components are specified and common to all competitors in order to keep costs down. That includes the hybrid system, which combines a Bosch electric motor-generator unit, a lithium-ion battery from Williams Advanced Engineering, and a gearbox by Xtrac.

I can only say the designed team that created this car is for sure not the same that has been destroying all the BMW series lately. They should give this guys control on the future designs
