It sounded like you did everything else just fine. I use good quality 100% cotton bath towels to dry my car. Just make sure you wash them once or twice to get that nasty chemicals they put in them so they stay nice in the store. I have tried to use microfiber before but the quality is just not good enough yet to be sure. Go with a tried and true method.
I used one from Vroom, I got at Target, my autobody guy says those are better than the yellow costco ones which alot of people like to use?

imo, i dont think that cheap towels could do that kind of damage unless they were made out of sandpaper. even if he pressed as hard as he could when drying his car, i dont think the damage would be this extensive.

Well my dealer did say he's pretty sure those weren't caused by them, but since I'm a good customer he's going to see what he can do to get them out. But no guarantees he says, so looks like he's willing to help, so I'm going to suggest if they pickup the tab from my own professional detailer that I take my M3 to because I showed him the scratches and he says he can take them out. Plus he's the one who told me those scratches came from the dealer because there's nothing I could've done to cause that type of scratching on the surface, and the orbital polisher residue makes him believe that they tried to buff those out but weren't successful?
So hopefully this story comes to a good ending.

Dealer will pickup the tab to have the scratches buffed out by my detailer. I told him it'll be roughly $100, and he said that's all he's paying, so it should all be good.
I told my detailer and he said just bring the car in and he'll take care of it.
So looks like at all worked out. I thanked my dealer for working with me on this.
The detailer will also wax,and polish the car after buffing out the scratches, I'll post pics afterwards.

I read your post quickly and I thought you said "the dealer will also wax and polish..." and I was about to say "NO!!!". Then i read it more closely...

Hope it turns out well for you.

I know its over, but it loks like work done from a wool pad and some compound (hack detailer). Followed by a high rich in silicone glaze to cover it all up. Eventually it washed away and you're beginnign to notice it now.

Man I'm always late to the party.
