I also think that the fate of Le Castellet has been sealed: no spot on the 2023 calendar.

See also here:

But rumor has it that there is strong lobbying by France. Maybe as compromise FIA will add in extremis 1 race to the provisional F1 calendar ?

By the end of this month Stefano Domenicali will also come forward with info about the possibility of a street race in Nice (close to Monaco) someday in the future.

Spa-Francorchamps: one of the most revered circuits worldwide. Unfortunately a mess in 2021 because of the rain showers. Would be truly loss for F1 if it loses its spot on the F1 calendar. Maybe each two years as compromise ?

Monaco: it's cynical to say, but Liberty Media is supposed to know that also crashes attract viewers.

Whatever it takes to get 3 or 4 US races a year I’m all for. But I thought it was already signed and sealed for a Vegas GP late next year.

I also hope the Vietnam race eventually makes it on the calendar after the country gets over COVID. I’m from the south, Saigon, and it’d give me another excuse to use a week or two of vacation to go back. I’m pretty sure I’ve been to the north when I was little but don’t remember it. I’m not a fan of the track but I think the straights will at least offer more passing opportunities than some other street circuits, say Monaco or Singapore.

Liberty are just thinking money, the guy with the 'tache ought to think about what fans want other than what ppl will pay, the price for entrance to an F1 race has sky rocketed to attract a new kind of enthusiast who has more money than knowledge and shunning the traditional fans who were the backbone of the previous GP races.
This person is now doddering over Spa after the huge outlay by the owners to bring it up to F1 standards..all because it rained last year!
My local track at Brands was cut out of F1 more than 30 years ago as the cars have grown into giants and because of that they think it's too small forgetting it's one of motor racing's most historic tracks.
Just my 2 cents.

I wish F1 would return to Indy, but literally the oval. Same as IndyCar and NASCAR. If they can drive track, street, day, night, rain, desert, hot, cold, they can drive oval. It’d be a smash!

Laguna Seca.

This is a golden oldie. Phil Hill driving a 512BB LM racecar @ LS.

Listen carefully @ 1:25-1:28 as he has a sort of miss shift..

Laguna is brilliant for the drivers, horrible for spectators. There’s only 1 road in/out, no hotels, no restaurants, no proper airports, nothing. And the noise regs. It wouldn’t work for the modern F1.

The oval at Indy is a brilliant facility.

so any predictions yet?

I think performance wise this track is a bit similar to the Red Bull ring, and considering what Ferrari showed there, I expect them to dominate the racepace on paul ricard.
But I also expect SAI having to take a new (his 4th) engine; his last engine engine breakdown on the Red bull ring looked to me like a multiple holes in the block type of breakdown, so a grid penalty for him, and a nice task for him to go through the entire field.
My prediction:
1. LEC
2. VER
3. PER
4. SAI
5. RUS
6. HAM
7. ALO
8. NOR
9. KMAG
10. OCO

Would be great . Too bad , F1 cars are not built to run at the Indy oval .

And other FIA race regulations would be required as well..Don't see that happening .

100% true.
I don't mind GP races in the US, but one of the first tracks/events that I think should be cancelled is the Miami GP. What a stupid venue was that. A street track set out on a huge parking lot...
And thinking of ditching Spa.. that's the coolest track on the calender.

I'd also like to keep monaco. Maybe not the most eventful race as overtaking is difficult, but Monaco always brings drama. Always. Here qualifying and strategy become really important.
And it's an iconic venue. Nobody talks about how often a driver won Singapore. or Montreal. But they always talk about how often he won Monaco. And in that regard it's the most important race.

I hope so too for the sake of keeping the title fight interesting, my gut says it’s a tossup. I’m expecting Carlos to start P20 and it’d be great if he can get to P5 or P6, but he needs to be methodical about it and have patience and not do what he did in Australia. I’d replace Lando and Ocon with Bottas and Mick. The McLaren has been hit and miss in the midfield and Mick has a few consecutive good races.

Miami was great and it will only be getting better. F1 could benefit from more American interest. Miami is investing heavily in growing the fan experience and there is a god-awful amount of money there. the track IMO was pretty darn good and for a first time setup the logistics, seating and access was really easy; the whole thing was very smooth.

As far as international access, Miami is once of the most visited destination cities for leisure. Probably 1000x more visitors than Monaco if I had to guess. I'm no fan of the city of Miami; but as far as a city that fits F1; not sure there is a better city because it's crazy wealthy, it's youthful, it's a party city that's all about night life... fits right in with the entire F1 entourage and atmosphere.

not sure why you think it's stupid. it is a street-like track but a dedicated race venue, it's not a race in a parking lot by any stretch of imagination. Did you go? because I was there and I think you might be off on your assumptions of Miami.
