Has nothing to do with being a "VW motor". It's all about labor rates. You could save half the money on a BMW oil change as well by going to a quick lube place and providing your oil. Most Porsche dealers have a two hour minimum labor charge for oil changes and are over $200/hour. An independent shop specializing in P cars are still going to be more expensive than your run of the mill shop, so their rates may be $150/hour (plus the cost of oil).

My girl has a 2021 Macan S. Her and I both love it. very capable acceleration, handling is amazing, very comfortable and the styling is nice. She is now obsessed with Porsche so I know a 911 of some sort will be in our future.

That's what I said! My 6.7 liter diesel truck is typically like $120. To be fair it also depends how hard it is to change. I know some cars out there you need to take half the thing apart to get to the oil filter or drain etc. I don't think that is the case here, but who knows, I haven't bothered to look it up. $300 is just on the edge of my laziness overpowering my cheapness. ![]() |

The Macan V6 takes 8L of oil and the 4 banger 6L......so a DIY is just over $100 and $85 respectively. Easy enough to do so not sure where this $500 charge could come from.

That doesn't make sense though. There is still a person that has to do the job, and it just so happens that Porsche labor rates are higher (they pay their techs more than a VW dealer pays its techs). There's also the dealership overhead and "P Tax" that you're paying for when servicing a vehicle with them. Nobody is stopping you from going to get the oil change at your local VW dealership or any oil change place for that matter.

My Indy shop does oil changes on all modern Porsche for $149. Don’t go to the dealer for service.

BMW is for sure not as premium as Porsche. And not as premium as MB.
Using price as the proxy for “premium”, one can satisfy oneself of this fact by using cargurus “price trends” feature on a like-for-like model and year comparison for the brands. Price trends are at the bottom of the CG desktop homepage. Porsche > MB > BMW as it relates to “premium” |

Okay so you just answered the question why it costs more to get a Macan serviced at a Porsche dealership when it's "just a VAG" vehicle. Nobody was disputing that, or trying to justify the higher costs. Basically everyone has said go to an indy shop.

Who cares what it costs a dealer to change oil? Cost in this context is meaningless.
Dealers would use oil filters made from gutta percha if they could get away with it, and charge the consumer $500 for the experience. They charge what the market will bear. |

This. If I could only have 1 car it would be a 2022 Macan GTS. Maybe a turbo but have not driven a turbo only the base, s and gts.

The GTS and the Turbo are now one model. It goes Macan, Macan T, Macan S, Macan GTS. So if you're getting one model, you'd go with the GTS.

I turo'd a Macan S recently and I was very surprised how comfortable it was. Very different feeling than the other cars based on the same platform. It wasn't exactly fast but it handled acceptably and was just... comfy.
I wish my X3MC I had was anywhere close to as planted feeling and comfortable as that one was.

I owned an s for a few years. Only issue of note was the transfer case blowing, but thankfully was under warranty.
- the 14 way seats are a must (at least. I had the 18s and loved them) - as others have mentioned, find a good indy, or diy your service. - it's truly a fantastic all in one car. It's very much a real porsche, there is handling magic baked in. - one of the nicest parts, in hindsight - the car was very easy to push, was forgiving, and never felt like too much" car, the way a 500hp M can. Mine had a piggy and an exhaust, and wasn't slow, but it was friendly. I know the limits of my m4 are waaaaaaay higher than my skill. I felt like I could drive, enjoyably, much closer to the limit in that car. Last edited by aktif8; 11-11-2022 at 10:34 PM.. |

IMO the 14 ways are better for the macan than the 18 ways. Would prefer those in a 911

Had 18 ways in my S and had so many tell me they were the most incredibly comfortable sport seats they had ever used. Had to agree with them.

no worse than BMW and their Water Pumps, imo. SO many people got screwed by the water pumps. Then BMW turned around and stole from all of us wiht the combox's and the emergency communication. shut down the services, offered owners who had Pre-Paid nothing. i'm hoping that becomes another class action lawsuit. Would love to see BMW have to pay for it. They gave millions of customers the finger. |

My dad drives a 2020 Macan S, the refreshed model. It's pretty great, I always enjoy driving it. Just don't expect it to handle at 9 or 10/10s like a proper sports sedan will OP. That's when you realize you're driving an AWD vehicle based on FWD underpinnings that understeers at the limit. The rear-biased torque can only do so much. Anybody stating otherwise likely just cruises and doesn't actually push the car hard. Also the gearing is very long. On the plus side, it's a pretty idiot-proof vehicle. The AWD system and traction control will ensure you don't die.
I'd really recommend stepping up for the S, even if it's a year or two used. The V6 makes such a difference. Also OP I see you're in the Seattle area. I'd recommend steering clear of Porsche Bellevue as they are crooks. Try out of state like California. A lot more dealers, inventory, and competition for your business.

I just think the QV is the Stelvio to buy to really get the most out of the car, but it is ~$90k. Unfortunate there is no mid-trim V6 option in the power category of the Macan S/GTS models. I would recommend OP at least test drive it though. Stelvios look nice in the right color/wheel combination.
