im sure the salesman talked them into how rare it will be. but neglected to mention the 20+ other 'special' versions that will come out in the next 10 years.

especially with that battery power, it's gonna have instant power.

thats not going to help with handling or braking. you could make the same statement about a tesla plaid which has the same power and weighs 600 pounds more.

mid engine, also the Porsche 918 weighs almost the same as ran 6:57 on the nurburgring. So your "handling and braking" is debunked.

This is the cost of electric motors / batteries. Getting heavier and heavier.

Heavy cars suck. Formula 1 drivers despise their almost 1800lb cars right now and they have psychotic power. For acceleration, power will overcome but cornering/braking is all compromised heavily. You can still run decent laps by recouping time lost in corners on the straights but it's still dookie. |

Solution to weight wrt cornering and braking is bigger rubber and rotors.

There's diminishing returns, additional weight, careful suspension geometry, brake temperatures, etc at play. The consumption of these components is ridiculous too. For production cars, tires need to advance another 50 years before they're sticky enough in various conditions to carry an M1 Abrams through a corner at high G. |

The weight penalty is massive. Crazy to think that a 765LT is essentially 1,000lbs lighter with not much of a HP penalty (they are dyno'ing around 780 at the wheels so making close to 900).
My hope is that at some point before petrol engines more or less die off (2030?) we can reach a point where EV tech is substantially lighter and we get a few good years of semi-lightweight hybrids. Maybe just in time for the Reveulto SVJ or whatever they decide to pump out. McLaren seems to be trying hard to keep the weight down so kudos to them - the Artura is clocking in at only 3400 pounds and that bodes well for whatever the 720 replacement will be.

Hybrid tech doesnt need to be lighter, it can harness energy that would usually be wasted to rocket out of turns at acceleration rates that non-EVs cant match. It cant be obscenely heavy, but hybrid is better than both ICE-only and EV for the accel potential without full EV battery weight.

Finally, someone who didn't drink the koolaid. Ditto and I always feel the same about others like the Veyron, etc. It's all ego-driven, even if one can afford it, where can one exploit its abilities on the road?
