So what? Electricity costs what it costs. I don’t understand what you mean. You’re saying charging stations give you a discount and lose money? At the very least they’re going to break even and I would also think to maintain the charging station they would charge more per kilowatt hour than what you pay at home. If they don’t, they’re stupid, or the governments paying for it.

No. You pay less at home than superchargers charge. That’s the point. When charging at home you can get almost 1000 miles for around $20 of electricity.

I don’t believe that. That’s 3-4 complete all night charging to get 1000 miles out of a Tesla and they are the best. It gets worse with other manufacturers because they get way worse miles per charge. So you’re saying 24 hours worth of supercharging for $20??? Nope. Sorry.

You aren’t making sense. I’m not sure if you are trying to be funny. You challenged someone about spending $17 a month on electricity for charging his electric car at home for roughly 950 miles he drives monthly. I gave you the numbers to corroborate his claim.

Why do you think it's not possible? Tesla Model 3 gets between 3.5 to 4.17 miles per kWh. Let's assume 4 miles/kWh in a southern climate, so 1000 miles / 4 ml/kWh = 250 kWh. If his night electricity rate is around $0.08/kWh (possible in some lucky regions), then 250 kWh * $0.08/kWh = $20...

Troll = a person or people that don’t believe Clark Kent

Me not believing you or suspecting something massive is missing here is not trolling. Why is it people like you whenever they get their feelings hurt accuse the people causing their feelings to be hurt of trolling or being filled with hatred? I’m never going to understand this.

Whenever my 19-year-old son gives me some information I feel is sketchy I don’t call him a troll. Maybe I should start doing that? You reinvented the word.

Edit: just a basic Google search shows your numbers are off“ and in most cases double what you’re talking about. And that’s in reasonable states with reasonable electricity prices. I won’t even quote you what they said about California and Hawaii. Have a great day.

I showed you that the math works, it all depends on a particular household electricity rate, and there are some states that promote really low night rates to offset loads during peak hours. Just a basic Google search should show you that...

I have googled the living crap out of this and nowhere does it support anywhere near $17 for 900 miles. Nowhere. Sorry. The best I can find is 4.56 cents per mile average and they admit that to being generous. Of course that number is much higher in California and Hawaii.

Just google “how much in electricity does it cost to power a Tesla Model Y”. Tons of sites open up. Positive sites, negative sites, all of it. I’m not questioning whether a EV costs less per mile then an ICE vehicle. It’s about a 1/3 to 1/2 the amount depending on the efficiency of the ICE car. I’m questioning $17 to 900 miles. It doesn’t pan out. But then again Chris says I’m a moron. What does Google know right? Obviously not what Chris and Mr Kent know.

Moron = a people or person that disagrees with brainwashed environmentalists.

Facts don’t care about your feelings. $17 for 900 miles. Is total BS. Now I’m done here.
