OP Here...

As an FYI...and this should have been said...

My wife and decided that after we got the offer on the 4.8, that we would tell the original dealer what was going on and ask him to match. BUT...we said, to ourselves, that he doesn't even has to match, he just needs to cme within 10 bucks. He couldn't even do that...

I was willing to pay an extra $10 per month to help this guy out and stay true to my word...but he just couldn't do it.

Now we know the price of staying true to your word...... $10/month for a few years.
You started the thread by asking if you are a scumbag, so since you asked, I'd have to say yes. I hope you aren't raising kids, because you sell out your values really cheap.
It's pretty disgusting to think that someone riding around in a new loaded X5 is that cheap and unethical.

You know...I was going to reply to Advskier, but now that we know he's a kid, and doesn't yet know the value of a hard earned dollar...I won't bother.

I don't know where you got that, since my "daddy" has been deceased for 20 years.

Over 700 posts and you resort to lies like that?

then please tell me what is "CHEAP and UNETHICAL" about getting a better deal...by using the tactics against the stealerships that are perfectly fair...every dealer knew that he was playing them off of each other...they willingly played the game...when you learn how the stealerships actually work and the games they play and how they change numbers after the fact...then feel free to chime in...

but please tell me....what ethical principles he violated...

First you lie about me, then you ask me to explain ethics????
You're quite the tool, and obviously incapable of understanding ethics since you think nothing about making up lies anyways.

So how about fucking off, since that is probably closer to your level of comprehension.

So basically, you wouldn't get the better deal if it was presented to you? It's not being a scumbag, its just being practical. Its stupid not to even consider that deal...

the fact that your thinking about the dealer that you have worked with in the past doesn't make you a douche, your original dealer failed and you got yourself an awesome deal.

If you had bought the 3.0 x5 from your local dealer then this would have been a car deal gone bad. And since it was the next day that you canceled i doubt the car was already in route to the dealer so they would'nt be stuck with that 3.0 x5. You did what a car buyer should do so congrats on your new ride

Its a buyers market. I would have done the same thing. If you get a good deal somebody else will have a bad deal to make it up, so it don't matter. You were just the smarter person.

I did the exact same thing on my 335i, i got an amazing lease when the car was very very hot, September/2006. $489/monthly

By the way back to more important things then cars, Congrats on the child on the way.

Dealers have done much worse to get people into cars. If they don't like it happening to them and they go off on you, then maybe they need to think about how they do business and treat people. They have no problem sleeping at night, neither should you.

Furthermore, the dealer said NOONE could do the deal on a 4.8, basically telling you that to buy the 3.0 from them, however, as you know, someone CAN and DID do the deal on the 4.8i. They were feeding you a line and their mad it didn't end up working.

I still agree with what the OP did.

I actually got a Alpine White/Beige 3.0 X5 loaner today. Pretty nice. Wish they would have left the Nav CD in so I could play with that and the reverse cam, but I understand why they don't. Fairly loaded, most things except zsp from what I can tell. I only took a quick glance at the window sticker in the glove box.

I'd be stoked about the car as well. More stoked about the kid though! My wife keeps hinting that she's ready but we just got married and we're only 25. I told her we can wait 2 more years, see if we can even take care of a puppy and to slide a new euro-delivery BMW in there too

We get so bent when dealers jack us around, but when we behave like this we pat each other on the back?

You sold your word and integrity for a relatively small amount of change, on a luxury purchase at that, so I think you figured out what you are.
Agreed. No one has morales and ethics anymore.

^ Ok this I disagree with. If the poster had done all of his research, he would have eventually found the deal he did without looking like a douchebag. I'm all for checking everything out, but when you say "deal"... you don't come back and say No Deal... This isn't a game of chess folks... you can't "go back one move" lol...
