Head units have traditionally been modifiable parts; anyone thing that you could yank a HU4 out and throw a HU5 in?

I'm overall less upset if the whole of MY24 is the same in that. I'd really like to not have a niche version of this years model that is less desirable just by way of not having ordered in the correct month of this year.

EDIT: nevermind, it says right in the infographic linked that they are not interchangeable due to 'vast software changes between FSC enabling and SFA token activation strategies'

TBH I'm more concerned about the removal of the auto gear shift lever. Every other new model has the toggle button which I would hate. The configurator page does show the lever however, while all other models including M3/M4/M240i etc has the toggle button.

I’m not sure what website you were on but bmwusa.com shows both the 2024 m3 and m4 have the auto gear shift lever.

Now as I understand it, and if someone can confirm, the only real benefit over the 2023 is the 2024 will have iDrive 8.5? and even then I don't know how much better it will be. Probably not much

BMW probably saw all the reviews of the New Integra Type-s.

They don't have them, and it is the best car ever. That's what I hear.

After having doing some research on the UI of ID8.5 I would much rather have ID8 due to the widget layout. Much better for my taste

I used to think I would care, but the reality is I find myself in Apple Car play 99% of the time. In both my ID7(X3M) and ID8(M2).

Same. I've never had a car with Apple Carplay or Android Auto but I'm assuming that they don't have controls for climate? That's all I care about for the 8.5 update; otherwise I'm meh on the whole dash interface in general.

I sure would like to hear that the '24 model year got some kind of refinement and not just a dropped feature losing the third climate zone for the rear.... Anything. Better radiator/oil cooler protection possibly? Fingers crossed.
