The interior is quite comfortable and spacious. Front seats are fantastic. The kids don't ride in the FL5, but there's ample room for car seats and/or boosters. I've taken it on a few Costco runs and I had plenty of space. There's a noticeable amount of road noise from the tires. Suspension is suitable for daily driving in Comfort and liveable in Sport. +R is fine for periods of time but it's not a setting you'll want to stay in often. All of the performance related "drawbacks" don't concern me as the car isn't a daily.

Have about 450 miles on the Type R so far. I really like this car. Seats are the best I have ever sat in. It makes the Sparco CF buckets in the Stelvio now feel very uncomfortable. I'm really impressed how grounded it feels at high speeds, very planted.

I'm ready to let the QV go. No more SUVs for me! I have narrowed it down to a few cars.

2. RS3
3. Supra

Hearing rumors of a GRMN Supra. That'd really put a hurtin' on a lot of cars considering how light it is. The M2 weighs almost as much as an M4 which is insane to me...

The FL5 has the most liveable bucket seat I've ever sat in. There are better seats in a production car but they managed to balance out function and form in impressive fashion. It provides excellent bolstering, but it's forgiving. Honda nailed the seat and the position of the seat which is equally important.

I've never understood the draw for these cars. Interesting that it has come from an Si badge meaning almost nothing to such a great performer today. I do like how wide they appear in real life, and prefer this new style to the last gen hatch. They look fantastic with a huge set of wheels and sticky tires too. Contrats!

Honda celebrated 30 years of Type R in 2023. Saying it derived from the Si badge is akin to saying BMW M cars came from the Performance Package or MSport.

Not in the USA it didn't. In 1999, when I worked for Honda, there was no Type R in the USA, all we got was the Si. The B16A2 was a peach for sure, but the car was a joke with regards to performance.

Acura was already producing the Integra Type R in the USA at the time, which if you worked for Honda you would certainly be aware of. Either way it does not change the heritage of the Type R designation...

Still trying to get seat time in one of these seems like most local allocations are spoken for and dealership games continue.

Yes, I'm well aware of the ITR, I passed on a Championship White 1997 because even though it was the best handling FWD car in the world at the time, it was still FWD (and I was pissed that they didn't give us the JDM headlights).

As far as heritage, meh, NSX Type-R or nothing IMO.

Even with over 100K miles, this Type R is bidding 10K over it's 1997 MSRP (which looks incredibly cheap to me now): https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...gra-type-r-19/

I always lusted after the 1993 Integra GS-R and it's 8K redline. Never cared for the restyled front end of later years -- although I wouldn't kick ITR out of my garage.

Not a Type R but I've been enjoying my Type S for 1000 miles as of today.

While I love(d) my M2C, the Type S is a different creature.

That is one awesome looking BMW front end. So sad BMW has decided to uglify it's cars nowdays. Even the front end on that Acura is better than what the BMW designers are putting out now.

I wish they kept the hatchback look but still a cool car in my eyes. I’m trading in my 21 Civic EX hatch for the ‘25 Z4 stick as I’m ready to go shifting again and refuse to pay ADM for a Civic in my region. Also wanna drop top! Enjoy your new baby!!

I'm totally opposite on design. I love it!

It looks very wide on the road with the flared arches. It has more of a sedan design when looking at it compared to a hatch back. I wish I still had the G80 to get pictures side by side. Very similar dimensions and width, the Type R has rear fender flare incorporated into the doors that I wish the M3 had.

I just don't quite get the allure of a FWD car that's only real quality is performing reasonably well on the track.

I've driven both the FL5 and the FK8 quite extensively and the light bulb just never went off for me. Maybe I'm out of the age demographic for these, but would take any performance oriented RWD/AWD car over this.

Same, but I like to tail-wag...a lot, so it's RWD or bust for me. If the Civic was RWD I'd have no problem with it. No matter what fake or real numbers it puts down, it's just not nearly as fun for me to drive.

Technically it has a lot more than track performance going for it.... It's daily driveable, it has utility, its a manual, its fun to drive, its cheap, it holds value well, plenty of room for my kids in boosters, and so on.

And here's the funny part, it does all of those things BETTER than the G8x, another car which I loved and still appreciate. So yes, its FWD which carries more stigma than real drawback as a street driven vehicle. The FL5 just fits in with the other cars in my garage perfectly. As an only car, I would maybe take another M5 but really for real....a truck.

The bold part for effect. I've voiced this before and there's always a refrain. You're not convincing the anti-FWD crowd. There's absolutely no way you'll be able to reason with them, so it's an exercise in futility trying. The FWD thing has sort of taken on a life of its own much like the anti-EV sentiment parroted by so many of the nerds on this forum. The bottom line is: you like what you like, and they like what they like.
