I find they irritate my ear canal after a few hours. That's why I like the softer ones. There's never a TV playing when I go to bed, but there are other noises like cars on the road at the base of the hill and rain running down the downspout, which is about 3ft from my head when I sleep.

The tapered ones don’t fill my ear canal. The yellow cylinder shaped ones don’t hurt or irritate my ears and keep things purrrfectly quiet. 🐱

They have some kind of report on them every single day on the news in Chicago. We have them every summer in Texas, so it’s hard for me to take the concern about them seriously. But, I have a friend here who tells me seventeen years ago in 2007 after they all died they had to shovel them up like shoveling snow. She said they covered everything, so maybe in a few weeks I’ll change my tune. In Texas, as a teenager, I used to shoot them out of the trees in our backyard. I was actually pretty good at it. I’d usually have to hit them two or three times to get them to fall.

I walked out of my garage earlier and one of them fell onto the back of my neck and down inside my shirt. Harmless, but creepy. I grabbed a hose and hosed them off the house. Most of what was there were empty carcasses anyway.

Fortunately for those of us in SW Ohio, they're not emerging here. The emergence of a few years ago was the last one for a while.
