well, i will try to redo the installation again, if it is still not working, then i will give up!!

The knob just pulls off. I found what worked best was sitting in the passenger seat and holding the knob with both hands, looking like you're ready to pull out Excalibur. Do not twist the knob, just pull straight up.

You can get the OEM MT boot from tischer. I don't recall the part number, so you should try searching or asking jason@tischer.

Oh interesting... I've never heard that. It doesn't require much force to take the shift knob out though. I think it's harder to remove on the MT's than it is on the steptronics, but I've only done this on my own car, so I maybe mine was just loose?

BTW guys, I just wanted to point out something Ironic mentioned in another thread:

I strongly urge anyone attempting the MT boot mod to be extra careful with the wires. Treat them as if they are made of glass. Also, before snapping the MT boot into place, please turn your car on and go through all the gears to make sure that the lever is NOT touching any of the wires or the bezel. The way that it's set up beneath the trim allows for adequate space to tuck in the wires and such, but you can never be too careful.

Same here. I was sitting on the driver side and was able to pull the knob with very little force. I also have step btw.

I know if you have 6mt you can put it in 2nd gear, but putting a step in neutral.....nah

here's what I moved onto from before. I've had the CF trim then moved onto OEM high gloss black. as piano black for e92's are scarce in the US.

OEM leather MT boot with DCT/6er knob(still under construction) MT boot had to be unstitched to fit the knob.
