If you're not, this is the time to become one. ![]() My dealer in MD has 20% discount. Others have 15% or less. Just check until you find the best price.

What I did to get my dealer's (Machens BMW, Columbia, MO ph# 573 445 4450) best price was print out the price list from Morristown (or Pacific...) and they instantly said that their discount was 30%, matching or beating most any price that I could find online. I have done the M shift knob mod and love it. Works great, and goes well with console, the blue & red match the heat colors. I am psyched to see that the E-brake handle mod is just the handle and not the boot, so I can do it and keep the beige boot.

I wanted to add a few comments (suggestions) for this great DIY. Before you start, make sure you have an 8" cable tie. A 6" is to short. I would recommend putting the tie connection at the underside of the break handle otherwise there is a bump on the top or side where the handle and the boot come together. The other thing I would check before you tighten down the cable is that the stitching of the boot is symmetrical on the corners of the handle. If you look at the “after” picture above, it's off to one side. In the small “before” picture, the stitching matches. This might not be a big deal to most people but it would drive me nuts. No offense FrankoQ.

Just installed my M Shift Knob--don't have the e-brake handle yet. But I bet it'll make a huge difference!! For one thing, the "fake" metal won't be hot in the summer anymore!

Just an FYI
The M shift knob with boot is apparently different for the E92 and E90, I just got a call from Circle BMW that the E90 one I ordered will not work on my E92, I thought they were the same. As soon as I get the part number, I'll edit this post with the E92 number. I figured I would post this so no one else makes the same mistake as me!

Push harder. But do not slam your hand into anything when it finally goes! I think the trick is to get your hand into a position with lots of leverage. Pulling with arm strength doesn't work, I found that sitting in drivers seat and putting hand on handle like I would normally, then pushing it off with arm/shoulder braced against seat back did the trick easily. Make sure boot is off. You should see the button start to disappear (wiggle if necessary), then it will slide off quickly. If nothing works, you could try squirting a small bit of that new lube that smells like pineapple that folks are using instead of WD40

M-sport wheel installed. It was fun. Took a little while to find the hidden slots for the airbag clip. It really does help to feel for a soft pot. You can find it on your new M-wheel first, and see the tiny slits for a screwdriver. otherwise you would never find them.

So I pulled and pulled on that shifter and it wouldn't budge. Finally I gave it one last yank and next thing you know my head is aching with a vengeance. It came off and landed square between my eyes.
