Which Hoosiers?...those things are too damn expensive..and dont last long. If you are a time trial fanatic..I can see getting them...otherwise pass. Yes, I know they are grippy.

I have no baseline for comparison. The track tires are starting to go quickly now because I'm working them much harder than I was a few months ago.

Blip - try the NT01. I love em. 8-10 days out of a set. Sticky as hell. No shaving, no heat cycling.

They are R6s.

Speaking about those things don't last long. I basically use a set per weekend. The lack of front camber just EATS up the tires. I can flip them inside out, but still, not helping much.

leftcostman: I have yet to use the NT01s. Heard good things about them. Maybe I'll try them next.

I've used the NT-01s on my track car for the last year and like them a lot. seem to be a bit better than the kumho v700s I had before (more consistent lap times for me, and didn't overheat as easily). I'm getting ready to mount a set of Hankook RSS Z211s right now though as the NT-01s are corded.

I'm trying the hankooks because I got a brand new set for $200 from a friend that recently sold his miata and used the same size tires as me, otherwise I would have bought another set of NT-01s.

Does anyone know if there would be any interference if I put a set of 245/40/18 R1's on the rear wheels at 18 x 9.5 rims with 45mm offset? The front rims would be 18 x 8.5 with 40mm offset also with 245/40/18. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I haven't been to e90post for awhile. Been busy with work, but I do have something to contribute here.

For reference, I run an 18x8.5 et30 setup with 255/35/18 all-around on an '07 e90 335. I have KW v2 suspension, which lowers the car about 1.25inches. I also run 15mm spacers on the rear (for street driving). I have never had any rubbing issues on the front or the rear, and I do several track weekends each. There are others on this forum running a similar setup - at least there were last year when I switched to this setup. Here is a pic.

What wheels and street tires would you recommend for some autocross and the occasional track session? I've been looking at csl reps staggared running either azeni rt 615's or bfg g-force twa's? I have a stock e90 sport. Let me know what you think.

Not recommending the suspension just the tires. Best single mod bang for the buck for our cars is a non staggered setup.

Keep the stock sport package RFT and use those until worn out. i've used RT615 and i'm not 100% sure there is better performance. cost is debatable, since in my experience i've used up RT615 in around 12k-15k miles and stock tires are on track to last 22k-25k miles with similar usage pattern.

'staggered' seems to be what people like to go when purchasing another set of tires/wheels anyway, but in the meantime when you are on the stock setup enter corners a bit slower and hit the gas a bit earlier

Yeah ideally you want a dual setup. Street use and track use, even if the track tires are RT615.

My experience using the RFT (or any other tire, for that matter) was that the tread blocks got rounded off bigtime. That will have negative effects on your wet performance.

I will say, with a tuned 335i and staggered setup, I had to enter slow to avoid understeer and had to be really gentle on gas on corner exit to avoid understeer. Get on gas too hard and the car just pushes to the outside.

That, personally, is why I'm on non-staggered now.

Out of curiosity, why go with a 2nd set if RT615 is the 'aggressive' set? Is it so you don't have to worry about hydroplaning in the wet? I've used RT215 (still miss those) and RT615 as a daily / DE tire and both are streetable as long as you watch out for standing water and keep the wet speeds reasonable.

Yes, to keep the street tires nice and "square" blocked.

I've been in a nearly new set of RT615 on the street....in the rain. I was just the passenger, but we were planing like a cigarette boat for a bit. Not fun. I guess I wouldn't take that chance on the street.

you should really look at the Dunlop Direzza. It's marginly more expensive than the Falken and far better.

I've had both and agree with Nick and Leftcoastman in re the wet weather performance. Add to this that they are very temperamental and grease up pretty quickly on the track compared to the dunlop and I don't see why anyone would bother.

How fast were you going? even when new I didn't go faster than 65mph on RT615 and slower even more if there was standing water

Now.. the old RT215 I did not go faster than 50mph even with full tread. that was definitely pushing the bounds of 'streetable'

My stock tires are 'dual use' and I see what you are saying about wanting a street set with nice deep treads and 'square' wear pattern in the rain. I got some hydroplaning going 65mph on 280 during the heavy rains this week. Would be sucky if the mrs drove at normal speeds and stuffed the car due to hydroplaning

EDIT: J.. i used 'to bother' with falkens because in the 195/60/14 size that my autox beater integra used to us, you could not beat RT215 @ $46 each. fantastic combo of good grip and low price! it was a solid STS class tire

The Nittos NT-01s ran great despite lack of negative camber. 255/40 all around (40 psi hot) on stock suspension with minimum shoulder rollover.

Just started going to HPDE in my E90 and I have about a million questions. Specifically, I was hoping to go to a square set up to try to get rid of the understeer on my car. I've had the car for two weeks, and my first day I ran the car bone stock with the the Badger Bimmer BMW CCA at Black Hawk Farms in Beloit Ill.

Specificially, I was wondering if I could fit 255/35/18s on all four corners without any clearance issues, or if I need to run with spacers.

I plan on going with a stock wheel (the five star that comes stock with the coupes with the Sport package, Type 199 I think), and some Dunlop Star Spec Z1s. Anyone know if that would work?

Can a 17 inch wheel fit on the car if it comes with the Sport package? Does the Sport package come with bigger brakes? What exactly does come with the sport package besides the 18" wheels/tires package?

Thanks

Yes, 17" wheels work great!

Hi all,

I was wondering, could I fit a 255/40 Bridgestone Potenza RE050A RFT on the front of my car? Would this be suitable for daily driving?

I would be using the OEM style 194 17" wheels. The rears have an offset of 37 vs. the front 34 - would this be an issue?

Basically, I am wondering if I should just order 2 rear wheels with tyres and slap them on the front?

Would this be a good performance option and is it streetable?

The second option I have is getting a set of Advan Racing RS 18s with 225 and 255 tires respectively...

Thanks.
