I think I didn't get my point across clearly. My "Suit Guy" sells the designer label suits at a fraction of the cost, and will refer you to a tailor to have it tailored. Effectively, he is just a retailer that is exclusive and only sells suits and nothing else. Basically he runs on the low-cost, low-markup, high-volume principle.

I don't wear suit to work and only have three suits, two Dior Homme and one Hugo Boss. The Hugo Boss suit definitely doesn't fit as well on my body as the Dior Homme suits.

Armani and Canali fit really well if you have a slim/athletic body type.

the Canali model with flat-front pants are slimmer cut (14000 series), however the single-pleat models are perfect for business.

Overall, you are right......the Italian brands fit great.

go with what fits/looks nice and requires the least amount of tailoring off the rack.

I wouldn't worry about suit construction too much unless you're planning on wearing the thing over 5 years from now.

I like Zegna and Armani (they have toned it down in the past decade), but that's just what fits me well - I only need the pants hemmed and taken in slightly.

Zegna shirts FTW

you'd be surprised how nice the single pleat looks, can barely tell from the silhouette.

Canali suits range from about $1500 - $2500.

If I'm not mistaken, Zegna has more of a business-oriented fit to it. Armani has a more fitted, fashionable look I guess you could say.

True.............but E. Zegna is like $2500 per suit

The Z Zegna line has a fashionable fit as well. That very well be my next suit purchase (maybe this summer).

Personally, I would never spend 1500-2500 on a suit.
Just my opinion

haha, I forgot to give my recco.

For me and my body type, I like Zegna and Prada a lot. I like the cut, and after a tiny bit of tailoring, the fit. When I get dressed up for some type of function, I always feel that business professional is the way to go. That is just my style.

This made me think of another thing. Have you guys ever looked on a designers website to see any of the new stuff that is out? They piss me off. I don't want to see artsy pictures, and flash media player up the ass. I just want to see the stuff, and be done with it. Rant over...

A year ago I received a Burberry suit from Nordstroms as a gift. I saw it in the store for $900-$1200. I had it tailored and it looks / fits great. I dont wear a suit and tie every day, more like a couple times a month. So I dont feel the need to spend $1000 or more on suits that I need to wear every day. So I decided I wanted to get a second one, but something more unique. So I went with a lighter gray Hugo Boss wihch fit me pretty well off the rack. And plan to get this one tailored. I got this one for $575, orginally $695.

Prior to the Hugo Boss, I ordered a new CK suit online for $185. It seemed too good to be true. When I got it, the shoulders were oversized and there was a small rip in the back of the suit. Thats the problem with online. Great deals. But I will never buy a suit that I cant try first.

So where do you guys get your suits? How much do you pay? Which brands seem to be the best fit, value and most durable? Thanks
Brooks Brothers - the only place ill shop - all the other stuff mentioned here is too trendy/too "Hollywood".
You want something classic that fits the right way - a Brooks Brothers tailor will fit to you properly - you may not like the fit because here in America, we dont know how to where clothes - this isnt up for debate - its fact.
You get a great suit thatll last forever for under a grand.
Now go to BB and get dressed....
